Every Day is New
I am an almost 50-year-old female with a lot of weight to lose. My short-term goal is to lose 50 pounds; 70 would be better. I am short, so you can imagine the frustration. I haven't really followed a diet long enough to know what works. I was looking around online at possible diets. There are so many! I came across this blog https://nosdiet.blogspot.com/2008/03/fifth-day.html. I was so inspired by her journey. I read all of her posts here and on the blog. I am sorry she isn't still posting, but I am glad she left everything available online. I haven't read the book yet, so I am just working with what I have read here. Tomorrow is Day 1. I am hoping for a GREEN day.

That is a good blog, I have read it a few times. Daily Check ins really help me in the beginning to stay consistent, so I hope we will see more of you here!

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.

Week 1 was ....interesting. I definitely struggled to eat enough at my meals to carry me through without hunger....or maybe cravings. This week I am going to adjust my portions. Perhaps I will add more protein. I am also thinking about adding a fiber supplement in between lunch and dinner. I really struggled with the lunch/dinner time because I have a really long stretch in between. I did try to use fruit and cheese or nuts when I gave in to the hunger/craving, but I want to omit that altogether. I am hoping that either a little more protein and/or the fiber supplement will help me make it.
What I did notice is that on the days where I made it at least to lunch time without snacking is that I enjoyed my meals a lot more. I was careful to include things that I really like rather than things somebody told me was healthy because I knew I wouldn't have that candy bar or cookie or bag of chips in between. It was actually very freeing. For example, I allowed myself to add potatoes to my breakfast because I really like that. In the past I would skip the potatoes but end up eating chips later on anyway. I also added dried cranberries to my tuna because I like it. I would normally leave them out because of all the sugar, but I would end up eating a candy bar later anyway which has way more sugar than the cranberries when comparing the amount that I used. This was a huge eye-opener for me. I have been thinking very illogically about food.
Today is an S-day, and my husband is taking me out to dinner for my birthday (no children allowed...
) so I should have a very nice S-day.

Happy Birthday! It sounds like you are having some really good observations! I can definitely relate and am still working on a lot of what you shared. I hope you enjoyed your dinner out!
