Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). Today was a partial success. :?

I did fine until mid-afternoon when I made the kids brownies for snack. I was so darned hungry and craving sugar and exhausted, so I had some, too. Looking back, I think the mistake wasn't actually making the brownies. I think it was a) not getting something sweetish in at lunchtime, like a piece of fruit b) not drinking some milk or tea or something mid-afternoon to keep me from totally crashing and c) forgetting to drink all the extra fluid I was supposed to after giving blood yesterday. Dehydration is exhausting in and of itself, without piling dieting on top of it...

I jumped right back on the wagon again, though...

Ideal weight: 150, but I'll take 180 for now because my short-term goal is simply to shed a bit of weight before having another baby or two. :D

I have found when I bake (which I love to do - cookies, cakes, pies, sweet breads etc.) I usually cave too.

I think you will do fine since you sorted out the problem and planned for next time.

I couldn't have resisted the brownie even if I had had fruit at lunch or milk etc.--just hope you enjoyed it. Sounds like you're back on track--good for you.

Yesterday was a near-success. I finally caved in at about 10 PM with a Rice Krispie treat. I didn't think a cup of milk was really going to do the trick.

Today, so far (11 AM) I'm doing well but getting hungry. Probably time for a drink of milk... :)
