Louise's daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Checking in Thursday morning. So far, the week has gone great. Haven't actually had any cliffhanger moments where I wanted to eat a box of See's Candies, so that's a good thing!

Checking in for Friday, 4/17 and Saturday, Sunday. OK, I'm trying this check-in thing again since I keep doing it wrong and it lands up somewhere I didn't intend it to (Lord knows where). I had a great week and had successes both on diet and exercise. Hooray for me! But, so glad it's my S days. Had a Butterfingers candy bar and it was really good. I'll dream about it during the coming week and have something to look forward to for next weekend. So far, I'm enjoying this program very much.

Checking in on Monday morning (4/19) after a good weekend. I did have a candybar on Saturday, but otherwise behaved myself. Had a banana and muffin for breakfast today and about to go for a walk before it starts raining. Oops! Already started - will wait to see if there is a break later.

Good job Weez! I am so far on track today. I helped out at Jett's school today and received a free lunch. I went with the salad. Not sure what I am having for dinner.

I am hoping to go for a run later but Drake has soccer and Jett has guitar so not sure when I will fit that in. Plus I want to get back to my shovelglove.

Keep up the good work. Congrats on figuring out the Daily Check in....finally (ha ha).

A little rainy out there today (4/20) - will wait for a dry spell to go for my walk. Had a muffin for breakfast and a cereal bar for lunch. I was on my way to Winco and realized I hadn't eaten lunch. There was a cereal bar in my car left over from my trip to Canada, so I ate that so I wouldn't go crazy buying stuff in the store because I was starving! Seemed to work OK. Got some plants potted today at Bi-Mart (free potting day) - BYOP (bring your own pots) so that was fun.
Everything going good so far.

I actually did Yoga last night and I kind of liked it. I am glad you got your flowers planted. I bet they look pretty.

Have a great Wednesday and I will talk to you soon.

Wed 4/21/10 checkin

Post by Louise Sweeney » Wed Apr 21, 2010 11:22 pm

I am being disgustingly healthy - cheerios and banana for breakfast; chicken breast and plum for lunch and chicken strips and carrots for dinner. Went for an afternoon walk with my faithful Adam CD for company. We had a great time walking the streets of Harrisburg. My favorite walk-song is If I Had You. Great beat for walking.

Here it is Thursday of my second week of no-S'ing. Just finished another disgustingly healthy breakfast. Not sure what I'm having for lunch or dinner. Guess I will surprise myself - with something healthy of course. Supposed to be a nice day so I'm looking forward to a walk a little later in the day. Planning on weighing in next Friday (4/30) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a happy occasion.

Thanks Mom! I know you can make it until tomorrow. I have already purchased my treats and plan to enjoy my S days (just not too much). Today is such a great day for a walk huh?

I ran early this morning but I am going to enjoy the nice temp and do some more yard work. How do your flowers look? Have a GREAT weekend!

Friday already so I'm counting down to candy time. Had a banana and toast this morning and just had a burrito and some raw carrots for lunch. Have no idea what to have for dinner.
My flowers are looking really good in my backyard. Still have a couple of pots to fill. I'll have to go back to Bi-Mart in a few days and see what treasures I can find.

Checking in for the weekend (4/24 & 4/25). I had chocolate pudding and a banana for breakfast - totally decadant! Hooray for weekends but I'll try not to go absolutely crazy with all this food freedom, because then reality will rear its ugly head on Monday, so I must try to use a little restraint.
It's a beautiful day although there are a few gray clouds in the sky.
Looking forward to a great, yummy weekend!
I had lunch and then ate a candy bar, which made me about half sick to my stomach. So, I went out for a walk and now I feel better. I think I had a guilty conscience about the candy bar.

Hey Mom. I am glad we are doing this together. It's fun getting messages from you. I have had a pretty good day. I am still really tired though and not sure if it's just due to PMS. Hope so. Have not slept well yet but I am hoping that once the medicine builds up in my system, it will help.

I hope you had a GREAT Monday and had a chance to get your walk in before if started raining. :(

Talk to you tomorrow.

Tuesday morning check-in. Just finished breakfast (South Beach cereal bar and light yogurt). Have to go to DMV today and get new tabs. Also the day to return bottles/cans and do my weekly grocery shopping. How much fun is that? Did manage to get in my walk yesterday and my timing was great - in between wind and rain.
Toasted tuna san and a plum for lunch. Wasn't as lucky weather-wise on my walk today. Fine for first half and then I got soaked! Oh, well, at least I got my exercise done.

Hi Mom. Hope you had a good rest of Wednesday. Can you believe it is already Thursday. Only 2 more days to go until our weekend. :)

Have you decided what your treat(s) will be this weekend? I'm not sure about mine but I think it will involve ice cream. Your doing great and thanks for being my No S Diet buddy.

I'm still liking this No S'ing and definitely looking forward to the weekend. Yay yummies! Not sure what I'm going for, but probably something in the chocolate flavor area.
Lunch was chicken strips and a banana.
Dinner 1 slice of pizza and a plum. That's it for Today.

Monday 5/3 checkin: Having my breakfast - blueberry muffin and light yogurt. Ready for another week of No S'ing. I was pretty good over the weekend. I had a York peppermint patty and a small cup of chocolate pudding yesterday, and a candy bar on Saturday, but othewise I was good. Hope I can find some good weather for my walk today. The last 2 times I've gotten rain on!
I was so happy that I lost 3 lbs and will try for another good weigh-in in 3 weeks time. Meantime, I am enjoying No S'ing!

Will probably have chicken and yogurt for dinner. :)

Wed. check-in . . . my oh my the week is flying by. Pretty soon the goood days will be here (I'm talkin Sat & Sun - yippee!). They're so much more fun now that I count them as SPECIAL and I can have whatever I want. Whenevr I feel inclined to cheat, I just say - OK, hold on for a couple more days and then let loose. So far, this seems to be working!!!

Thursday morning check-in. So far today just had breakfast (muffin and yogurt) and am catching up on the shows I taped last night. They keep having shows I like that start at 10 p.m., which is my bedtime, so I have to watch them the next day. Anyway, it's nice and sunny out so hopefully that doesn't change before I get a chance for my walk. It was supposed to maybe get to the freezing point last night and I think it did because a couple of my flowers are looking very puny - might have to replace a couple. Will worry about that later.

Saturday - Yippee!! I am having chocolate peanut clusters for breakfast and possibly for lunch too. All this freedom is going to my head, or probably my hips. Whatever, I am going to enjoy my weekend.
Went for a walk - gorgeous outside - and according to my nifty little pedometer I did the following:
5,347 steps
2.109 miles
253.8 calories
Time for another chocolate covered peanut cluster.....

Hi MOM! Hope you enjoyed all your peanut clusters. I always enjoy Mondays and just finished my run which was marginal, but at least it's done. I am going to shot for a run every day. Should improve my mood and maybe when I weigh in on Saturday, I will have lost a little.

Anyway, I hope you have a great Monday and I will talk to you soon.

Monday 5/17 check-in. So I have had a very S'ing weekend! Love those chocolate-covered peanut clusters. I think I'm now good until next weekend.
Had cereal and banana for breakfast. Not sure about lunch but have taken out some hamburg to thaw to make spaghetti tonight. Will just have to watch portions and number of pieces of garlic bread.
Walk stats: 5,552 steps, 2.19 miles, 263.5 caolories. Good thing I went when I did, I think it's fixing to rain.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY TO YOU!!!!!!

I hope you are having a good week. Mine is good so far. I decided not to exercise today as I have the last 2 days and I was a little burned out. My main focus it to stay consistent with the 3 meals. Habit Habit Habit. I also decided to go off the medicine. I just could not mentally handle gaining weight when I was trying so hard to lose. For now, I will deal with the frequent waking up until I am at a better place weight wise. Then I will figure something out. I am glad you like your pedometer. Dave still has not programmed mine, so I have not started using it yet.

It's hump day. We are almost to the weekend!

Walk stats:
2.52 miles
304.3 calories
6,411 steps
1 gallon of water accumulated on my body

Hi There! I can totally understand you being bummed about staying the same. I'm still at the weight I started at 2 months ago....sooo, let's just stick with it. What else do we have to do? And I really like my weekends. Hopefully, we'll start losing, little by little and in the meantime, we'll feel better and be healthier. Okay, so I am usually a little optimistic on Monday's. Talk to me on Thursday, I may not feel so sunny, ha. I loved your entry about getting rained on during your walk. Cute stuff ma.

Monday 5/24 check in: Had a banana and yogurt plus cup of coffee for breakfast. Don't know about lunch. Plan on making stew later for dinner, yum.
Had enough chocolate peanut clusters and reese's pieces to last me until next weekend (probably for the next month but who's counting?)
I'm telling myself that just staying at the same weight after 3 weeks is OK because I'm feeling much healthier - so take that you ungrateful bunch of fat!!!!

Wed. check in, 5/26. Looks like I forgot to check in yesterday. Forgot all about it.
Anyways, breakfast today was a blueberry muffin. Maybe have some leftover stew for lunch or maybe chicken and yogurt. So many decisions to make; I'll have to give it serious thought. I am so tired of hearing about BP's oil spil/leakl - they need to stop that sucker somehow; very sad about all the loss so far.
Although I didn't do anything weight wise the past 3 weeks, my pants do seem to be hanging a little more loosely. Probably all the walking.

Friday, 5/28, checking in: Doing some housework - vacuuming, dusting, laundry, etc., all that fun stuff.
Had a blueberry muffin for breakfast. Not sure about the rest of the day.
Hasn't rained so far today so looks good for my walk after my housekeeping duties!
Yay! It's Friday - still have a few chocolate-covered peanut clusters to look forward to tomorrow! Gotta love those weekends.

I'm a bad girl this week; keep forgetting to check in. So here I am on Thursday, 6/3, finally posting. Oh, well. I'll try to do better next week.
Didn't have my computer for part of the day Tuesday and most of Wednesday so I do have an excuse of sorts.
Been good on the whole. Could have been better at my exercising but I'll take the rain excuse there.
