Friday
Breakfast: porridge with strawberries
Lunch: pizza
Dinner: bean chili and bread, an apple

Was going to have rice with my chili but ate the bread in a hungry moment where I briefly thought I was going to have to spend the evening driving to get a vaccine (someone accidentally sent the invitation to all schools in the county to forward on to their staff when it should have just been to a select few). Felt very restrained then just having chili later.

Was that microwave chocolate cake like one of those lava cake things? The ones I'm thinking of are SO dense, but I could still probably eat 5 of them in one sitting......

It was a self-saucing chocolate pudding. You probably don't need to know but here we are: https://justamumnz.com/2019/04/19/the-b ... cake-ever/

Wednesday
Breakfast: peanut butter and banana on toast
Lunch: egg fried rice with lots of veg, grapes
Dinner: beans on toast and cheese

Also benefits of covid testing twice a week: no eating allowed half an hour before the test. Wanted more dinner but as it was already late after an after work nap had to stop eating so I can do my test.

Oh my goodness! I did NOT need to know! Mug cakes were my downfall back when I was nursing and hungry ALL the time. That looks amazing! I will have to try to make it one of these weekends.

You are getting tested twice a week?

We're testing ourselves twice a week at home.

With lateral flow tests which are not known for their accuracy but they might pick up an asymptomatic case or two. It's not compulsory, an opt in scheme.

Same as healthcare workers are doing here too, and all secondary pupils (age 11+) will also be encouraged to test twice a week when schools fully reopen in a week and a bit.

LOL, about the lateral flow tests - did you see the clip where one of your politicians (I think) showed a can of coke testing positive for COVID?

Oh I see. That sounds like a good precaution.

I don't know anything about lateral flow tests, but it sounds nice to be able to test yourself at home.

Ha, I don't think they're quite that inaccurate! I googled and it was in Austria apparently and he didn't do the test properly (poured the coke straight on rather than swishing it with the liquid).

They're more likely to produce false negatives than false positives apparently, and any positives have to be confirmed with a different test. And if you have symptoms you have to take a different test.

I wouldn't exactly describe it as nice, but my gag reflex is slowly becoming less sensitive!

Anyway...
Thursday
Breakfast: oats and blueberries, a banana
Lunch: cheese sandwich, tomato soup, grapes
Dinner: egg fried rice with an extra egg

I tried not having breakfast till 11 to try and delay myself being hungry. It did not work, I'm still hungry all the time at the moment. I guess my habits had been broken- going to take time to readjust.

Oh! sorry, yeah that doesn't sound nice at all. Hooray for less of a gag reflex? Sorry you have to go through that!

What do you mean about your habits being broken? Are you trying for a later breakfast all the time now?

I meant I haven't been properly following no S for ages so I've forgotten how to only eat three meals a day, especially when working and tired!

Oh I get it! Thanks for the clarification! It IS hard to only eat 3 meals a day, especially when working and tired. I know when I am busier and tired I always want to eat more. Congratulations on a Green Thursday and good luck for Friday!

Friday
Breakfast: buttered toast, a banana
Lunch: cheese sandwich, blueberries
Dinner: fish and chips

Solved the hunger problem today but not with ideal long term solutions- woke up late with various work crises to deal with immediately (not major issues just stuff like disappearing literacy lessons ) so had to have breakfast a bit late. Then the weather was really lovely so I went for a long walk after lunch. I was much less hungry for the afternoon, but I don't normally have time for that, and definitely can't when I'm at school (which I will be all the time again from the 8th March).

Then I decided as it was still nice outside I was happy to go wait for fish and chips (it's always super busy on a Friday) and that was a very filling dinner. So not a pang of hunger all evening (while I did the work I didn't do while enjoying the sunshine).

Today sounds like it was both productive and then ended rather relaxed? Hope the rest of your week goes smoothly! Oooh, and that the weather stays nice for you!

Last week was a disaster

But this week is going much better so far.

Monday
Breakfast: peanut butter and banana on toast
Lunch: cheese sandwich, cucumber, kiwi, apple
Dinner: chickpea enchilada, grapes

Tuesday
Breakfast: peanut butter and banana on toast
Lunch: cheese sandwich, carrot, grapes, apple
Dinner: chili beans and rice, kiwi

Ah, back to glorious routine. All children are back in school. I don't know if it was the right time to do it, but it makes my life so much easier! It was also beautifully sunny today so having a "well ventilated" classroom was not such a big deal and going outside a joy.

We'll see if I'm still feeling the same tomorrow after a long staff meeting and forecasted miserable weather.

Thursday
Breakfast: porridge with strawberries
Lunch: cheese sandwich, carrot, apple and grapes

And managed to go food shopping without buying too much junk! Hooray! I think the only things I bought I didn't need were a tin of peaches and a packet of walnuts

Friday
Breakfast: hot cross buns, walnuts
Lunch: cheese sandwich, red pepper, apple, grapes
Dinner: vegan pizza, tin of peaches

Can it really be called pizza when there is no cheese involved? :? Tasty though.

And there go all my impromptu supermarket buys

Sounds good!
Tins and packets. Remind me. Are you in England?

On another site, a member there is fond of saying if she doesn't buy it, she can't eat it. Of course, then there's follow through. And beforehand, working through our thought habits that defend having access!
Bit by bit, keep going!

I am in England. What else would you say? Cans and packages? Bags?

Having a couple of fail weeks. Urgh.

Maybe tomorrow will be the turning point...

In good news, my housemate did the shopping this week. I forgot to put eggs on my list so she didn't get me any. Blessing in disguise because eggs are a pathway to cake

Hope i didn't sound like I was criticizing. I think it's charming how we have people from all over. (I worked for the British Council in Tehran in 1978 and I will be in England in May.) In California, we would say cans and packages.

Ooh how I know how X could lead to baked Y. Dough and batter were my drugs of choice. Often never even got to the cake stage, but that rarely lasted long, either.

Two more Ndays this week.

Not at all! I was genuinely wondering as they were not words I'd thought about being particularly British/regional.

Managed to make biscuits (cookies  ) without eggs. Doh
