Jennie’s daily check in

Hello! My name is Jennie and I have started No S more times than I can count, but never made it past a day or two even though it really makes so much sense and seems so do-able and sane. Generally, I quit because I talk myself into another diet (usually intuitive eating or intermittent fasting, but sometimes others) when No S gets the least bit challenging or I convince myself that No S sounds a little too simple and too slow and I need something that will work faster.

I’ve been reading the posts on this forum for some time and find them very inspiring, but have never considered starting my own check in thread until now for some reason. I’m hoping that posting here will give me the accountability I apparently need to stick with the plan and really give it a chance. I have read the book and would like to commit to 1 full year of vanilla No S starting July 22, 2019.

I am 48, 5’5” and weigh 195 lbs. I have reflux, high blood pressure, and my blood sugar is just barely under what would be considered pre-diabetic; so I know I need to make some changes now before things really get out of hand!

Thank you all so much for sharing your stories and experiences on these boards so that others (like me) can learn and be encouraged and inspired by them!! I am excited to start this No S journey and be a part of this community!

Thank you for the welcome auto and soprano!

Auto- Oh how I wish I had stuck with No S like you have when I first joined in 2013! Your journey is very encouraging and I appreciate the wisdom you have shared along the way! Now to try and apply some of it to my own situation....

Yesterday was a red day for me. I gave in to the afternoon hunger. Ugh! But as I’ve read somewhere on these boards before, I’ll “mark it and move on”! Unfortunately, the gap between lunch and supper will be even longer today due to social commitments and I don’t do very well with large meals, because they give me bad heartburn. I thought about adding a small afternoon snack and eating all of the rest of my meals off of smaller plates and I may try that at some point on this journey, but I really want to give regular No S a good, solid try before I make too many changes! So I have decided to stick with the 3 meals and remind myself that I can have a glass of milk this afternoon if I need it and still be on plan. Will try to check in tonight after supper and record my meals and any thoughts on the day. Hopefully, that accountability will also help me to stay on plan! I really want to reframe this as more of a learning experience and find out how to make it work for me and my life in the long term and I think having a solid foundation will help with that ultimately. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!! :D

Hi Jennie! Good luck this afternoon! A big glass of whole milk, like you said, can probably do the trick (if it's real hunger). If you just kind of "need something" then a decaf latte can be a perfect tide-over too. Let us know how it goes!

Hi Jennie! I'm a big convert to the milk thing, especially between lunch and dinner. Best of luck and we'll see you on your check in thread!
