So far so good!

welcome, acs..... the no-s diet is superior to just about every diet out there, including the hacker's diet.

As with code, elegant simplicity wins every time....

Have fun shovelgloving, too.

Welcome, acs.

Thanks for the excellent compliment, Freakwitch! I know how to value it.

Thanks for the welcomes. I've been struck by how polite and friendly people here seem to be.

Actually, I think the analogy to programming is an excellent one. Make it as simple as possible, but no simpler. Automate as much as possible. Make the system as hands-off and robust as possible. Integrate and forget it, let it work automagically.

The "no snacking" is absolutely killing me! Fortunately I smoke and can usually distract myself by lighting up.

hang in there, acs. Your body will get used to the 3 plates per day. It will take a week or two, though (some might say 21 days).... in the meantime, drink lots of water and remember that if you feel hungry, it's a sign that your body is looking for fuel, and the only place it can get fuel if you don't eat is from your stored fat reserves!

That's a Jedi Mind Trick I've used many times on myself....

Keep it up AC!!!
I screwed up at least once a week in the first five or six months... I still lost weight anyway...
The good days win out overall!
Peace and Love,

Day 5: Success
Days 6 & 7: S-days (woo hoo!) Success

Got up at my normal N-day time (5am) and experienced a huge energy crash from 8-9am. This would be when I'd normally start snacking, to keep my energy up. Fortunately, none of my co-workers arrived early enough to see me dozing at my desk. :)

My wife is starting to give me some support and encouragement too, which is really really helping. I'm also trying to distract myself from snacking by playing with the kids.

So far so good...

Not only that, I missed my shovelglove yesterday. I'll be shovelling today (5-10cm of snow!)

oops. Hope I didn't jinx you!

Nevermind. Whereabouts are you with that 5-10cm of snow?

Ottawa, Ontario. Cold and snowy. Not fun.

At least it's not that cold, only about -14 degrees celsius (with the wind chill). It'll be a lot worse in January...

Oh dear!

Nevermind. Welcome back. Restart, reboot, redo, retry. It's the human curse.

Failure is the human condition, and redemption is the human promise. It's always one decision away.

Keep at it! You'll be a happier man for it. I know I am.
