Hannah's Daily Check in

Whelp, it's too late to count today (Already ate about 6 or 7 cookies lol) So I will start actually recording and checking in tomorrow. :D

Last time I went to the doctor, which was about a week ago, I weighed 142 pounds. I am 5'7". I know, I know. I don't need to lose weight, but my problem is I don't want to gain weight. You see, I have a HORRIBLE sweet tooth (actually, probably a whole mouth full) and I swear at least a third of what I eat is cookies, snack cakes, ice cream, etc. I am used to weighing somewhere in the neighborhood of 115-120. That's my happy weight. I have recently gained weight because I have picked up these nasty habits. I have been steadily gaining since. So, I want to nip this in the bud before it becomes a problem. I don't really want to lose anything (maybe 10 or 20 pounds) but if I do naturally from changing my habits, that's fine.

So to sum up, my goal is to get healthy and change my habits and NOT lose weight (but I certainly wouldn't mind)

But I do want to get in better shape, so for my own person use, I will record only one measurement and that is my waist.

So starting waist is: 32"

So hear we go. I shall start right now.

Welcome aboard and good luck. It is very wise to try to prevent a problem rather than waiting for it to become one. :)

Well, this is embarrassing.

But, I regretfully inform you, that today @ 12:56 pm, my day officially became a FAIL

That's right. I couldn't even get through 4 hours of the first day without failing! LOL I was so tempted not to even put this up but I know I have to hold myself accountable. So here it is, in all of it's shame.

I ate 2 sweets. AND I snacked.
But I had an excuse for snacking. For some reason I was really hungry an hour after breakfast.

But tomorrow is a new day! Plus, I don't have to completely trash the rest of my day just because I messed up already. So, I will workout today and not continue to beat myself up about it.

You will be seeing green tomorrow!

You can do it, Hannah. It takes some planning and patience (with yourself) but you will get it. If you stop to think everytime you start to put something in your mouth, you'll be shocked to see how often you eat without being concious of your actions. I know I was. I would eat all day at my desk because I didn't want to get hungry. Now I am hungry a lot and it feels good. I like to picture little jaws chomping their way through the layers of fat every time my tummy growls  . Maybe someday there won't be anything more for them to eat. If you need to work on just cutting out snacks or sweets first, try that. But don't give up.

I counted yesterday as an S day because me and my friend went to the movies and I ate popcorn and M&Ms :)
But today I have done really good. So today is SUCCESS.
I am going to start reducing my calorie intake very subtly. I am doing this as a PERMANENT change. I have read a lot of the research that has been done on the subject. Studies show that a reduced calorie lifestyle may lead to a longer lifespan.

Some links on the studies:

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/66839.php
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/05/health/05diet.html
http://www.latimes.com/features/health/ ... 7067.story

There are probably tons more if you google it.

My goal is going to be to try to eat 1600 calories a day, with a max of 1800-for the rest of my life. :)
So it's like a permanent diet, I guess. :P

Hannah, the beauty and allure of NoS is that you DON'T have to count calories or keep track of what you eat and don't eat. There are no good foods or bad foods - just three reasonable plates a day with no seconds, no snacking and no sweets. By doing this, your caloric intake will automatically drop without any ciphering on your part. On the weekends and special occasions you may indulge in second helpings, snacks, or sweets if you so desire - or not!

Why not try "vanilla NoS" for a month before you make any kind of modifications? It might also be helpful to listen to Reinhard's podcasts 35 & 36 on mods and tweaks. I'm sure they will be very helpful to you.

Good luck on your NoS journey!

Mimi :D
