Denise restarting NoS

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Denise restarting NoS

Post by dmarie710 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 12:45 am

OK, so today is Easter. I restarted NoS on Thur. officially and have been doing well, till today. I have really gone overboard on the Easter candy, but you know what? It's an S day and a holiday. Tomorrow, I'll be doing an Eat Stop Eat fast, than ready to get a full week of vanilla NoS.
So...
4/1 N
4/2 N
4/3 S
4/4 S Happy Easter
I'm going to try to keep this up daily.
Yesterday weigh in was 132#

Happy Monday Denise! I'm glad that you enjoyed your S Day. One of the great things about this way of eating is getting to enjoy holiday goodies, guilt free. Hope that your fast went well and that you have an enjoyable No S week! :D

Thank You Shannon. My Easter ended up being really over the top. Today, when fasting I only had a little hunger. Your right, no guilt. I throughly enjoyed Easter. So for today, my dinner was
1 plate of salad with turkey breast topped with strawberries
and 1 grilled cheese sandwich. Very filling and yummy. This may become one of my regular meals.
Success

4/7
B 1 rice cake with peanut butter, and cottage cheese topped with orange
L grilled cheese sandwich with spinach and turkey salad. This is becoming a favorite of mine. Will post dinner later.

B piece of toast with peanut butter, cottage cheese and 2 strawberries
L spinach salad with turkey breast, onion and sliced strawberries and grilled cheese sandwich.
some musings. I've noticed since restarting NoS what a habit I have of taking bites of my daughters dinner (she's picky and never eats the whole thing). Also when I see food going to waste, I feel the need to eat it myself. Really, who is this helping. Not me. These little bites add up.
D spinach salad with turkey breast, baked potato, orange

No slip ups yet. yay me!

I can relate. I had the same habit with my picky DD which came to light with No S. I hate throwing food away too but better in there (or eaten by DH) instead of on my hips.

Hi, Denise, I've started back, too.

I have WAY more to lose than you (than MOST people, ) but have tried No S before and it's the ONLY way I know that feels normal and yet gives results.

Good luck!

Hey Cheryl. I agree that this is such a normal way to eat. Let's wish us luck that we both can stick to what makes sense and not get pulled in other directions (if you know what I mean). It's easy for me to get sidetracked on the next latest and greatest gimmick that never works. Good luck to you, I'm on your side.

B egg white omelet w/sliced tomato and 2 slices of toast with Parmesan cheese
L ended up being a failure. Had locarb frozen yogurt with peanut butter added to it. I than decided to have a piece of cinnamon toast. It was a minor failure, but a failure nonetheless. I'm going to limit this frozen yogurt to 1 N day per week. Not because it will cause me to gain weight, but while I'm trying to get my 1 plate to become a habit.
D hubby & I are going out for Mexican food. Will report back later.

Yes, we are fairly close. There was another woman I communicated with because I thought she lived here, but it turned out she was referring to being here on business only.

I was thinking of starting a meetup for No S. I'm sure it would be too far for you, but maybe it would bring some locals out of the woodwork. I think there would be so many people who would benefit. I also think it might help me solidify the habits. I'm not worried about N days, but wishing my S days would calm down on their own. But, I'm in it for the long haul. Got no other place to go.

Keep up the good work.

Hey maggie, that group idea sounds really great. I probably would be a bit too far for me.
Now for today's checkin. It's been a very busy couple of days. My cat got spade yesterday and there was some complications. I know yesterday was a success just don't remember.
Today is a bit iffy.
B very small bowl of cereal. Was stressed about my cat and just didn't really have alot of time to eat.
L went out to Cosi for a chicken salad & slice of flatbread. After that my friend wanted to go for a frozen yogurt with sounded good to me. I got a very small amount of no sugar berry and plain tart mixed together. I think that will be a failure. A small one, though.

Hi denise! Many thanks for your nice, supportive message and for being so understanding. It really, really helps.

Sorry to hear that you have hit the 'dreaded' plateau too! It can be such a drag. Actually, I was very fed up at being stuck at 160 lbs for so long but at least my weight was consistent and I had also thought that if this is where my body is comfortable at, I suppose I will be (somewhat) content since I've lost 10 lbs and at my age (late 40s), height of 5'7" with a medium to large frame, I might not get much lower. However, the sudden weight gain did knock me for six and just seemed to come out of the blue. I really can't think what I have done differently and why it hasn't come back off again. Normally, weight gained quickly tends to be temporary and comes off pretty quickly too. Anyway, I am trying hard not to be so worried about it now and carry on as before. Nothing else you can do! I'm trying to get my steps up throughout the day. Haven't quite got to the 14,500 mark yet. But Ive been known to clock up as many as 20,000 steps in a day (albeit rarely) dependent on what I've been doing.

Thanks again hon for your nice message! All the very best for this week and look forward to checking out your next posts!

Best wishes, Roxy x

Dang, Roxy, I'm impressed on the 20,000 steps. That's a lot of walking girlfriend. It is so nice that we can support each other. I'm sure that weight that came on will be off as soon as you know it. It really does sound like it'll be off as soon as your back to your regular meals. If I remember correctly, you were eating prepackaged meals given to you. Is that right? Sorry if I'm remembering wrong. Anyway, this is all part of the weight loss journey. I hope you have a great week too.

B 1/2 bagel with Parmesan cheese and spinach salad
L leftover lasagna from dinner last night and other 1/2 of the bagel from this morning.
D yummy mexican food. had chicken fajitas, being very specific with the waiter about holding all oil. I hate having my dinner swimming in oil. I actually gives me the runs. I know TMI, but it's the truth. I ate 1/2 and had about 3 chips and salsa and brought the rest home for leftovers.

Yeah, I love my vegies. A salad just sounded so amazing this morning. Of course, I ate breakie at 10:00, so I'd been up for about 3 hours. I don't like to eat till after I get home from the gym though. In fact, this morning I was wishing that I would crave normal things like cereal for breakfast. I knew that if I ate cereal I would feel deprived so I ate what sounded best. Glad to know there's another there's others out there that eat weird sometimes.

So, I'm going to try something new starting today, till next Fri. I have some old VCH tapes of Weighdown At Home. The concept is sort of like intuitive eating (haven't read i.e., just assuming). It's Christian based and you eat when you stomach grumbles eating till satisfied than stop. You eat whatever your craving. I ate like this as a child till I got married at 20 and was very thin. More than likely, I will only eating 3 times a day with 1 plate, but will probably include a small sweet of some time. I love to have a bite of something sweet at the end of a meal.
Like I said, I'm going to give this 1 week, & see how this goes. I'll still be fasting 2 times a week. This is going to be interesting to see if this weekend, since I know that I can have a small amount of sweets during the week, I can take it easier on the sugar front. That's why I wanted to start it today. I kind of feel like since I've restarted NoS that I really dislike overeating, but I also enjoy to have dessert the few times during the week that I might have the opportunity. Keeping in mind, that all of this will be in true moderation.
We'll see what happens. Should be interesting.
My weight this morning was 132.5

So, today is May 11th and my little try with weighdown is going well. This weekend I ate very moderately. I don't know if it was me waiting for hunger, or knowing that I could continue to enjoy whatever my bodies calls for thoughout the week. I shall see on Fri. what my weight looks like and how I'm feeling overall. I can say, that I'm really not eating too many sweets and my portions are staying pretty small. I'm still only eating 3 times a day. It's only Tue. so we'll see what happens.

So, here I am Fri. one week later with my experiment. Things I've learned: The reason I haven't been losing weight is I eat too much(duh), I've lost weight eating just what I'm craving (withing reason) and have lost weight. I think that this eating style might just work for me. I hate to so easily turn my back on NoS, so I'm going to stay on the Forum, and who know's, I may decide I need the structure, but at this time, I'm losing weight eating whatever I want, just smaller amounts. Like for lunch today, I had 1 piece of pizza and a spinach salad. I wasn't able to finish either. I finished it off with 4 jelly bellies(my favorite candy). I'm still completely satistifed at 2:26, but know that when I get hungry I can have whatever I'm craving again.
This morning I weight 132, but that's up from yesterday at 130.5. I haven't seen that number since October.
If I can have another moderate weekend knowing that my sweets are still an everyday thing, if I want, than I should continue to lose weight. We shall see.

I'm not understanding what is different. Are you eating outside of regular mealtimes? Or just having small amounts of sweets during your meals during the week? Or both? Some people do pretty well with that; others just keep increasing their sweets. REinhard has said the whole idea is to be moderate. He just chose rules that optimize success and decrease the number of opportunities for failure, but there are plenty fo ways to be moderate. But do please stick around until you see how it goes.

I'm totally sticking around. What I've been doing is only eating between hunger and fullness and having whatever I want. If it's sweets, I have them. But, what I'm noticing is I'm generally eating only 3 to 4 times a day. And my meals have been much smaller. And, my craving for sweets is actually diminishing because I think I know I can have them if that's what I'm actually craving.
Like I stated earlier, this has only been 1 week, & I'm keeping my eyes open.

Thank You, Shannon. I just am still amazed at how little food I need. Kind of a bummer. I know I have a small frame, but this is ridiculous. So moderate weekend started with Bunko last night. I always eat more at Bunko, but also really enjoy it. I had a small amount at dinner, our hostess served, shredded chicken, beans, rice salad taco shells and chips and salsa. It was a fiesta. I had a small portion of chicken, beans, rice and salad and 2 chips. I then proceeded to have m&m's. I don't know how much, just one or 2 at a time. Candy is on each table at Bunko. For dessert I had 1/2 a churro. I never was overly full, but it's Bunko, and I did eat more than usual. I love it, though.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Did a partial fast today
Ate at 2:30 with yogurt.
D tortilla chips and guacamole, romaine salad with chicken, cheese. Ugh, I'm still full. I don't do good on alot of fat. It really makes me feel tired. I much more of a low fat kinda girl. It's what I feel most energetic with.

It's been a long time since I've posted. I've been half heartedly been following No S. For the most part I've been doing 3 meals/day, but not being super strict. I fasted today broke it with 100 cal. of yogurt, than will have a salad and something elso tonight. Not sure what. We went to Las Vegas this weekend, so I really didn't pay too much attention to structure. I don't think I ate very much either. Tomorrow I get to go to American Idol (so excited). it will involved standing in line, much of the day, on top of that a 2 hour drive each way. Probably won't have much tiime for food , but will be starving when the show's done taping. I think we have to be in line by 12:00, not sure when the show records, but think it may be around 3:00. Taping will probably be over by 6:00.

Hey Shannon. American Idol was super great. We had so much fun. We ended up in VIP parking next to Simon, Ellen, Randy and Ryan Seacrest. I was a bit starstruck, even though I didn't think I would be.
This week has been off, though. I'm going to do my best to get back to posting daily. Generally not S day's though. I look forward to a long holiday weekend.

Oh my goodness. It's been too long since I posted. I went to counting calories (mistake), now I'm back. I seem to have this back & forth relationship. I know I need to keep track of calories, but really need to only eat 3x a day. I pretty much have been following the 3 meal plan, just was allowing a few pretzels to sneak in or whatever looked good.
Been doing NOS for a few days. Weighed myself the other day and it was 131.5. I've been keeping up the the board but will post more.

It's been a wonderful, yet busy day. My son's bday, started with a 1 1/2 hour walk to the store to buy donuts for son and friends. I picked at 3 different ones. Been also having pieces of bday cake. I really love cake. Been driving all over town of Temecula for different activites. Now, I'm home to stay.

I'm glad your S day is going well. Enjoy those doughnuts! They are a fave around here.
Keep up the good work. I know it's easy to slip into old habits, but remember what brings the most satisfaction...moderation! No S!

Thanks Liz. We don't have doughnuts very often, but it is my 14 year old birthday. Thank goodness the boys we had over to spend the night were very hungry and ate most of them. I think I had 1/2 to maybe 3/4. How's your weekend going?
Thank You for the reminder of moderation. I do want to lose weight, so I can't get out of control with weekends. Enjoy your weekend.

OK, so it's been an uneventful Mon. I did an ESE fast, but ate a handful of pretzels this afternoon because my stomach became really nauseated. Not sure why, but they helped. Dinner 1- 9 inch plate of food.

Tue. went great. Breakfast was thin bagel and handful of cherries, lunch was yogurt and Dinner was salad, shiritaki noodles and 2 egg rolls. I've started to put new liner in all my cupboards and drawers in my kitchen. It feels so good to know they are nice clean and organized.

Today, so far I've had a thin bagel with hummus and handful of cherries for breakfast. For lunch I'm going to pack our lunch and go to my friends to hang out for the day.
Yesterday there was a change in plans. I packed lunch for myself and my kids (thin bagel with chicken. Then sliced jicima to dip in hummus. Sandwiches for kids. Than instead of going to said friends, we went to our local bible college that used to be a spa back in the early 1900's (it has natural hot springs) and we hung our there and had a picnic. It was so beautiful, clean and the kids had a great time. I definetely want to go back there.
Dinner was spinich, shiritaki noodles and 2 turkey meatballs. Did have a bite of spaghetti from family dinner and small slick of garlic bread. Left a small area on my plate for the slice of bread, but just had to have a bite of daughters spagetti. Oh well. At least when I went to bible study last night there was no dessert to tempt me.

Hey Liz
Cherries have been on sale lately and I just love them. I'm almost considering adding them to my spinach salad for lunch today. hehe I haven't even had brekkie yet and I'm already planning lunch. I hate that I love food so much.
Yesterday was a blast. It's been cold for Temecula, but I'm enjoying it while I can. Have a great day.

Today has been a busy houswork day. I finished lining my kitchen shelves. Next I will do my pantry. Probably next week, though. Breakfast, didn't get around to eat till noon. Had yogurt. Lunch at 3:00 was spinach salad with chicken breast, sesame dressing, and cherries. Also had 2 rice cakes 1 with Peanut Butter, 1 with hummus. Dinner TBD.

Oh Yes, osoniye, that lunch was delicious. Dinner yesterday was Rodrigoes Mexican Grill. I had a few chips a salsa cause by that time it was 8:00 and I was HUNGRY. For dinner it was there lite Tostada which is really good. Didn't finish it all. Today if Fri. and I skipped breakfast. For lunch I met my mom at Panera Bread Co. for lunch. I've never been there, but I think it's my new favorite restaurant. I had there Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken salad. It was so good. Even my daughter was picking at it. Had alot of fruit. Also had a couple bites of my sons sandwich. For dinner it will be at Bunko. Don't know what's being served, but I know already, I'll probably eat candy. I love Bunko. It's a fun relaxing time. I will probably go very light with the sugar, though. I'll update tomorrow.
So yesterday I got very hungry and wanted to eat before Bunko. I already had it set in my head, that it would be an S day, so as I was heating my daughters spaghetti I had a bite.
At Bunko I had a bowl of very good salad, super small amount of Chili and 1/4 baked potato, handful of fritos for Chili. Than I had about 5 mini hershey's chocolates, handful of popcorn and a piece of lemon cake. I normally skip the dessert at Bunko cause we're eating candy throughout the evening, but our hostess is a really good baker, so I wanted to try her cake. I didn't eat it all, but it was good.

For Sat. skipped breakfast, had a salad and Sweet Potatoe chips for Lunch. 2 pieces of chocolate. Than for dinner (this is kinda funny) we went to a new place in Temecula called the Tilted Kilt. Anybody familiar? When we walked in My 14 year old son had a huge smile on his face, I thought our waitresses boobs were going to fall our of her shirt. had to tell son to just look down. The place had really good food, though. I had a turkey burger, took home 1/2 of it and 3/4 of my fries.

WOw, Denise it looks like you are doing well.
That salad from Panera sounds great...there's one close to us, I should go!
I'm proud of you with your "let loose" but not lose self-control at Bunko.
We're getting it!
And, your ability to just have 2 pieces of chocolate. Amazing. Hopefully I can get there one day!
Keep it up!

Thank You Liz. I felt really good about Bunko. It really is something I look forward to. I do have to confess about the 2 pieces of chocolate. I only had 2 in the house, frozen in the freezer. And really, they are so decadent that it's hard to eat more than 2. Sunday's are a bit more over the top for me, but I enjoy them and don't make myself sick. It seems we are doing really well. I'm really impressed with how your doing also. Hope you have a great day.

Thanks for the encouragement oolala. I hope you summer is going well.
Today is going to be interested. Skipped breakfast. I notice I've been doing this alot, it's not completely intentional. Just have been sleeping in, taking my time getting to the gym, than by the time I workout, I'm not hungry in the least. If it backfires, I'll be more diligent.
Lunch will be yogurt.
Dinner, not sure what. My friend is having a grand opening and I'm helping her out. I know there will be champagne and food there, so I'll do my best to virtual plate. I will not have sweets.

I've been noticing that I'm often not hungry for breakfast. I allow for a cup of coffee with a generous amount of milk or even cream if I need it mid-morning. I don't find that I want more at subsequent meals. I like to think it's just that my body has tapped into its fat stores, so I'm getting all the calories I need. I don't know why that isn't how it works all the time. I don't skip breakfast on purpose to save the calories. If I'm hungry, I eat!

Just weighing in here on yogurt. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby and like plain yogurt, I highly recommend their own brand of European style organic yogurt. I get the non-fat because I like to add either walnuts or flax seed meal, but it tastes really creamy on its own even with no fat, IMHO.

oolala, that is the best yogurt to buy. lbb, I highly recommend that especially since you shop at TJ's. The yogurt I have these few meals a week, some would consider a sweet, I however do not. There's a frozen yogurt store down the street from me and the sell lo carb frozen yogurt. Has no sugar it's sweeted with xylitol, and it's super yummy. I have it as a meal, probably not the most nutricious, but I enjoy it a few meals a week.
last night went well. Enjoyed the Champagne, and had 2 dessert plates of crackers, cheese, dip and a few strawberries. Since I made a declaration yesterday of no sweets, I felt I needed to honor that. Yay for me.
Today, skipped breakfast yet again.
L leftover homemade pizza and salad
D again, finishing up the leftover homemade pizza with a salad.
tonight is bible study and I declare I will have no dessert. There, I said it, now it's so.
Thanks for the great comments lately. i really feel like I'm being held accountable and I love it. This is the best forum ever.

OH how I love frozen yogurt and wish I had that lo-carb option!

Good job on honoring your word. It really helps build self-confidence and integrity, don't ya think?

Thanks Shannon and Liz. Bible study was great last night. The kids go to youth group at a home down the street and the adult's go to bible study at another house. And, after study there was kettle corn and I didin't have any. Liz, your right about there's something about honoring your word that builds integrity and confidence. I don't know why it's so easy to lie to myself, when I'm not a dishonest person with others. In fact I physically cannot lie to others. I just feel sick. That's kind of amazing. Anyway, today here it is 9:15 and I haven't even gotten to the gym yet. I'll be going here soon, shower, than me and the kids are getting our teeth cleaned today. My mom has worked for the same dentist for 15 years in Rancho Bernardo which is 45 min. from where I live. We kind of make a day of it and go out for lunch with my mommy. Since there's 4 of us, it does take most of the day. I'm sort of craving Oggi's for lunch. We'll see what Mom wants. Don't know if I'll get around to brekkie. Will post later
edit
before we went to the dentist I had a fiber cracker with laughing cow cheese wede.
We ate lunch about 1:30 at Oggi's. Mom and I split a salad, I had a piece of pizza and a fiber cracker. It fit on a 9" plate.
Dinner we had chicken fajitas. Mine had those great fiber cracker's that I learned about from another Noesser with no fat refried beans, chicken, peppers, onions, and that's all folks. I wanted another portions twas so good, but I stuck to my plate.

That Bible study sounds awesome...and resisting Kettle Corn? You deserve a medal. Sweet popcorn is my weakness! (but knowing I can't stop with that stuff keeps me from going...)
I know, Denise, I can't lie if I try, but I can really truly be sneaky with myself...moreso just make excuses and justifications.
Oggi's? Sounds good. Never heard of the place.
Chicken Fajitas? Don't make me hungry at 9pm, k?
These fiber crackers...do they taste good? What are they? Are they just filling or yummy, too?
take care.

Hi Liz
Oggi's is a super yummy pizza place, but they have good salad's and flatbread sandwiches. I don't know if it's just in Cali. but we usually only go there when we go to the dentist in RB, even though we have one by us 1/2 mile away.
The fiber crackers are different. I learned about them through another woman on theses boards. I noticed she was adding them to her meals to help add fiber and fill her up. Thought I'd try them. They not good by themselves, but topped with something or broken over salad, theyre not bad. They are only 12 calories and have 6 gm of fiber, so I believe that do help meals fill me up more & maybe not eat so much.
Yes, we enjoy our bible study nights. There's always dessert so that has been an ongoing struggle. As of now, I'm trying to stay in the habit of not eating snacks and sweets during the week.
Have a great day, Liz

Today is Friday, yay. The day started of with no brekkie. Lunch was yogurt with a fiber cracker and LF peanut butter.
Dinner will be a bagel thin, with melted cheese and Tomato
salad with chicken. Hubby is taking my and my daughter out when he get's home from work. My son's are going to a concert so it should be a fun evening for all.

so here it is almost 9:00. When DH got home about 7:30 he suggested we go out for frozen yogurt..ugh. So I went for a yogurt with my DD and DH. We had fun, but I felt this doom cloud over me, saying NO! DON't DO IT. Sometimes what family wants comes first. I didn't have alot of yogurt, and I did only have 2 meals today. Still I don't like doing this.

Denise, I don't blame you about not wanting to go out for yogurt. It's not the amount. It's the habit. Do you feel that it is too "diet-y" not to have frozen yogurt with the family? I know it's not the same thing, but I went out with some people after a movie tonight. I was asked about not eating, but I just said I was still too full from dinner and that I wished I was hungry. 'Course, they didn't know me well enough to pressure me. Anyway, it's what you do with the experience that counts.

Good luck with your S days.

Yes, Oolala, I thought it would be too diet-y if I didn't enjoy it with my DH and DD, since we don't do this often together.
Good for you for sticking to your guns last night. I really seems your doing well with your N day habit.

Well, it was a great weekend. Sunday hubby and I and picked up the tile that will be next weekend's project. We're tiling our downstairs. I'm very excited.
Today was an ESE fast. Dinner was BBq'd chicken breasts with Teriyaki sauce, pineapple and swiss cheese burgers and a green salad. Yummy is all I can say about that. I'm still full.

Denise! First, thanks a bunch for your comment. It was so personal and well-thought-out and timely.
I really do appreciate it.
It sounds like you are doing awesome! Does the ESE help you kind of feel ready for your N days, post S days? Do you mainly skip breakfast/lunch before Monday's dinner? Do you get lightheaded or are you used to it?
I'm excited about your re-tiling adventure ahead. It sounds ambitious!
GOod luck and keep up the good work!

Hi ladies. Yes, I'm very excitied about our project. This carpet has got to go. With 4 kids and 2 dogs (elderly at that), you can imagine how bad it is. Yuck. I already warned my DH that I will not be in the house when he tears up the carpet. I get grossed out easily.
Hey Liz. I've been doing ESE for so long that I'm used to it. I don't get lightheaded. In fact I love getting hungry. ESE has taught me so much about true hunger. In fact the "hunger" I do feel is usually when Lunch would be and passes very quickly. yesterday I had club soda with SF vanilla syrup and the carbonation filled me right up.
Have a great day. I'll be posting later. I'm taking DD to the aiport to go to Oregon for 2 weeks. It's going to be hard having my baby gone. She's very excited though.

I don't know what your yard needs are, but if you have an area that you want to reduce weeds in, you can lay parts of that old carpet face down on them and cover with some bags of bark or gravel compost. Amazingly, eventually some weeds can poke through, but it's not too hard to rake off the compost to roll up the carpet and throw away.

I think you will love having tile floors. They really look quite elegant. Only problem is nothing bounces off them! I mean dropped glasses or such. Other than that, they're terrif. And just in time for the hot season.

Thanks for the tip oolala. I'll let my hubby know. He's in charge of the yard. I do the inside house, the yard is his turf. We are having to rent a dumpster for a week, never realized how expensive it is.

today I've gotten quite a bit done. slept in till 8:00. Read for a while, went to gym (my workout was so tough I'm already having problems walking) showered, lined drawers in b'rooms, got car washed. Now I'm chillin.
B thin bagel with a teeny butter
L cabbage slaw, shirataki noodles, chicken breast mixed together with soy sauce. 2 bran crackers with laughing cow cheese. I'm very full over very few calories. I think this may be how I need to eat. Lot's of volume, low calories. Dinner TBD
Dinner was chicken salad with NF italian dressing, parmesan cheese and bran cracker crumbled over top, cherries and grapes.
I would really like to drop some weight. It ain't happening. I love salads and they are filling for me and don't have many calories since I used light dressings. I think this will be a lot more of my meal's. We'll see if this helps nudge things in the right direction. Don't really want to mess with S day's yet.

Yummy lunch. I guess that's good your body is trained to be very full over few calories, eh?
Do you really think you're at a plateau with weight right now? It doesn't look like you eat a lot at all, and I'd be surprised if you weren't losing! Especially while working out hard. Wow. Gaining muscle?
You're right...DON'T mess with S days yet. Otherwise, if you're like me, your N days will fall apart b/c you'll feel deprived.
Good luck and it looks like you're sure getting a lot of productive stuff done!

Thank You Liz. My weight doesn't seem to budge, and I'm not sure why. They only thing that makes sense is that I've been eating more calories than my body needs. I workout 6X/week for 45min.-1 hour. Not willing to do more than that. If I really think about it, June held birthday's buffett's at works for end of year, than of course Bunko was in there. Hopefully I can really buckle down and take this seriously. It's 10 pounds for pity's sake.

Denise -- It 's frustrating how those last stubborn pounds hang on, especially when you are working out, doing ESE, staying on habit, etc. Maybe is calories or if it isn't calorie intake, do you think it could be related to hormones or something? I know that definitely plays a role for me. *shrugs*

Hope you wonderful weekend! :D

B was actually lunch. met my mom at Panera Bread Company in Escondido for a chicken and strawberry salad. Than we went shopping at JC Penney. Bought 2 really cute shirts on sale for $4.97. I love a bargain.

I have a friend who has been using more traditional means to try to lose weight for her son's wedding. She invested in a personal trainer and a BodyBugg, which is a device to determine how many calories your body is using. She used to be a WW counselor and is an expert at tracking calories, doesn't eat much meat, uses low fat dressing, etc. Her Bodybugg says when she walks for an hour--I've been with her and she walks fast and hard--she burns 600 calories! She said she has had many weeks in which the numbers indicated that she had burned enough calories to have lost at least a pound, but didn't.

The good news is her body fat has dropped, but she didn't get to a size 10 for the wedding. However, she definitely looked like she had lost weight, esp. over the last couple of months. I'm saying all this because she still misses seeing the scale go down. I like that, too, but I think I'd be fine with it if I saw the body fat going down. I have an Omron to measure that. I also have the plastic calipers which are apparently surprisingly accurate for the money. But I haven't lost much on any measure, though recently some pants were looser.

Sorry I'm using your thread to rant a little. I know these are passing feelings, but it scares me a little bit to think how I will react if I haven't reached close to my bottom line (ha ha) even after I incorporate all I feel willing to do. How Kafkaesque. Guess I'll just have to face that when I get there.

Hi oolala. I have some calipers. I don't know if I mentioned it, but I used to be a personal trainer. I messed myself up pretty good my being a guinea pig. I was at a good size 6, till I started trying all different diets. I go through times where I need to except my body, but then I see myself in pictures and realize that I look chunky. I don't like that. I know for my small frame weighing 123 is not too much to ask. We'll see what happens.
By the way, I think your doing so great. You also give really good encouragement amongst these boards.

Denise:
I like what oolala said about body fat percentage...sometimes weight isn't a good gauge about where we're at...however I say that, and I, too, am obsessed sometimes with poundage (weighing myself the day after I have a baby, in fact...).
How are your clothes fitting? Are you gaining more muscle?
Anyways, it seems you're doing great and thanks for your encouragement.
Good luck with the holiday weekend! I hope you have some fun things planned!

Liz, I think body fat percentage is the best at gauging where your at, but I haven't been able to fit in my favorite jeans in quite awhile. I know for my body 123 is where I have always felt the best. It's not too thin (size 6-8) and I feel my best. Weight is just easiest, besides the way my clothes fit, to tell how I'm doing. I've lifted weights for 11 years so I pretty much know I'm maintaining muscle so I can say this weight is not muscle. We'll be tiling our downstairs this weekend. I do have a party tomorrow night and at church on Sun. we're having a BBQ afterwards, but other that that it'll be work work work.
Have a great time with your family. It's almost the weekend. yay.

today has been pretty good day. I'm really missing my daughter.
B 2 bran crackers with LF peanut butter
L went out to lunch with friends at Cosi. Had a chicken salad and piece of flatbread
D another chicken salad with whatever yummy vegie I can find, bran cracker and fruit.
Dinner I didn't end up eating fruit, instead had shredded cabbage with chicken and shiritaki noodles with teriyaki sauce and a bran cracker crumbled over top, than I had a bran cracker with LF peanut butter.
something I've realized this evening. I've had a perfect NO S week. I'm very happy about that. Also, I'm really satisfied eating salad. I don't have to think about food and it is so filling. Also, here in Temecula it is very hot and a salad is perfect.

Hi Denise - how old is your daughter? My youngest is going away to France with her school next week. While she's away it's her birthday (13th). I will miss her so much - she is the livewire in our house - always singing, dancing, doing acrobatics - she leaves a big hole when she's not around. Just something us mums have to get used to, I suppose....

Hi, I don't know. How fun to have you stop by. My daughter is 11. This is the first time she's been gone more than 2 nights. She is such a joy to us. A very unique little girl with such innocence. My DH and I just went into her room, cause I found some drawing of her's that I wanted to show him. She's quite a cartoonist.
How exciting for your daughter IDK. I'm sure she'll have a great time.

4/3 S day
lovely day. We (or should I say DH) started tiling our downstairs. It's seems to be going slow, but will be nice when done.
B nothing
L chicken salad with bran cracker
after lunch I went to a small gathering at a friends house to have a body wrap. Paid $20 to wrap my tummy. It was OK. I pretty much did it to get away from the mess at home. I supposedly lost 1 1/2", but I know that it's not fat.
D was a going away party for friends. We had enchilada's, chips and bean dip, fruit, salad, beans, rice, and Costco cake (my favorite)
While I was chopping the fruit salad I was snacking on fruit, got pretty hungry.
Now that I look at dinner I realized I really didn't eat everything I have listed. That's just what was available. I had 1/2 plate of green salad, 1/2 enchilada, beans and rice. Before dinner I snacked on a few chips and bean dip.
Today is 4/4 S day
I've eaten quite a bit more food today, and it's not over.
B small bowl of cereal, small cinnamon roll.
L hot dog, bite of potato salad, doritos, graham cracker 2 squares of chocolate and 4 marshmallows.
went shopping and bought a bag of pretzel m&m's. they were good
D going back over to friends house to have leftovers from last night. Not sure what I'll eat.

Yesterday went well at friends house. had 1/2 hamburger and homemade mac and cheese. Also had some chips w/7 layer dip while waiting for dinner. After we had leftover Costco cake. Me and my boys came home to help DH get more tiling done. A little later I had some ice cream.
Today did an ESE fast
DH and I went out for Chinese for dinner. I had a plate of steamed chicken w/ vegies and light white sauce on side. I did have a few fried won tons while waiting for dinner, but dinner was on a 9 iinch plate, so I consider it a success.

today has been going very quickly. Worked out, booked cabin for hubby and my bday weekend. My birthday is Sat. and hubby is Mon. Cooked banana bread and finished sealing the grout from our weekend project. We only got half way done with the tiling, but I'm very happy with my living room hallway and bathroom. Tile is really great.
