Denise restarting NoS

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

It's been a great weekend. The plans turned out interesting, met some quirky people, but we had a fun time. Sat. was my birthday and I really didn't overdo it. Had my 3 meals, but for lunch my parent took us out to mimi's and I had a small salad with a blueberry muffin, than afterwards we went to mommy's house and had boston cream pie. Dinner was chicken salad, afterwards I had 5 chocolate truffles. Today started the day with the most amazing apple pancakes. Lunch was leftover boston cream pie, snack fiber one yogurt and some chocolate truffles, dinner spiinach salad with LF cheese and thin bagel with LF cheese. Than ice cream. The day's not over yet, though. hehe

today is an ESE fast till dinner which will be determined shortly. Today's also hubby's bday so if he get's home early enough from work we will go out to eat. Otherwise I'll make him meatloaf. I'll have my usual salad which is actually sounded quite good. Will update later.
Hubby indeed did work late. Dinner for me was spinach salad with chicken tenderloin, fiber cracker crumbled over, small bowl of fiber yogurt with blueberry's and FF whip cream. It's 8:10 right now and I am hungry. Don't think I ate enough, but that's OK.

Went to the airport to pick up DD today. So happy to have her back. She brought me an Everything bagel with I had a few bites of for breakfast. She knows those are my favs. Lunch was yogurt with 2 bran crackers. Dinner DH, me and another couple are going out to Islands. 3 of the 4 of us celebrated birthday's, so it's our annual birthday dinner. Will be having salad, surprise surprise.

So after thinking about things, I'm not sure whether to consider last night a failure or S day. Dinner ended being pretty late and I was so hungry I felt sick. Plus it's been very hot and humid here. I ate a bite of bagel while waiting for our friends, than we decided to go to Lazy Dog Cafe for dinner. It was really good, 1st time there. We were celebrating birthday's like I stated earlier, so we had dessert. We ordered a cinnamon and sugar pizza with I ate 1/8 th of. It also came with ice cream and I had a few tablespoons of that. For dinner I had 1 zucchini fry and 1/2 of my cobb salad.
Today has been better
B leftover cobb salad w/bran cracker
L spinach salad with chicken breast, blueberries, 2 bran crackers crumbled in with LF ranch dressing.
D BBq'd hot dogs. ate 2 LF hebrew nationals with 1 bagel thin split in half and wrapped around them. Also spinach leaves with LF ranch

Hi Denise,
I vote for an S day! It was a birthday celebration after all--you can't really turn down sweets at one of those. Plus, you knew about it ahead of time, it's not like you jsut decided to spontaneously ditch healthy eating and eat sweets!

It sounds like you had a good time, allow yourself to enjoy without guilt!
This version of myself is not permanent, tomorrow I will be different. --BEP

I'm thinkin about starting to post my weight. Not sure if I'll stay consistant, but this is something that could help me to stay even more on track. This morning my weight was 131#.
B 3 egg whites omelet with LF mozz cheese and green salad with more mozz cheese and LF ranch
L 1 cup NF plain yogurt with 2 white peaches and 2 bran crackers crumbled in.
D will be an S event. My monthly Bunko which I'm really looking forward to, but in terms of weight loss don't think it'll help much. I'll probably go easy.

here it is Sunday and my house is a disaster. Ugh. Hubby has been doing tile in kitchen, but he wasn't able to even start laying the tile yet. had to pull up the old and the old owner's of this house must have used mortar because it is so very slowly coming up. He's been working on it for a total of 10 hours and that's only 1/2 of our kitchen. My house is full of dust and feels so dirty. Done complaining.
Bunko had 1 plate of food at dinner on Fri. than had candy I haven't had in so long. Runts and tootsie rolls. Yummy. I was pretty sensitive to the sugar, so I don't think I ate too much, but really wasn't paying attentiion. Had a little bit of the dessert served.
Sat. wanted to stick to 3 meal structure, but kinda failed. Some friends and I went wine tasting, and ended up going out to frozen yogurt, so that was really the only snack, and it was a small one. Today has been more indulgences as usual, but not over the top, yet.

Ok it's Friday. So ready to finish tile this weekend. My hubby is trying to devise a way of not creating so much dust. We'll see.
B toasted baget
L spinach salad with sprinkle of chicken breast and crumbled pretzels, lo carb bagel and small amount of chicken on 9 inch plate
D went to applebees. Had the oriental chicken salad with grilled chicken, no chow mein noodles and lf dressing on side. Was a bit sweet/salty. Also hubby and I ordered an appetizer of artichoke spinach dip and chips. Since I had appetizer, I couldn't eat all of my salad. Still more than I would usually eat.

Well, it was a pretty busy weekend. I wish I could say the tile is done, but it's not. I feeling very overwhelmed. Even though we're almost done, I just not used to having my house in such disorder. I dust, it comes right back. Also been battling a cold and not feeling myself.
Today as been ESE fast. I'll be doing more grout tonight when DH get's home, don't know what I'll have for dinner. Probably the usual.

good day so far
One thing I've been noticing is that I've been sneaking bites off my daughters plates at dinner. Ii wonder how many other bad habits have been sneaking in that I'm not paying attention over. No wonder my weight is not dropping like it should. Last night I noticed cause I was eating off a 9" plate and 1/2 of it was covered in spinach leaves. maybe I thought I deserved a bite, but I think I need to be more strict with myself.
B bowl of cottage cheese mixed with plain yogurt
L lo carb frozen yogurt
D slice of turkey meatloaf, baked potatoe, broccoli slaw with lf mozz cheese.
at bible study I had a slice of chocolate cake. It was delicious and I don't feel one bit bad.

Hey Liz
Good to hear from you. As you can see, I've totally neglected my check in. I'm sort of following No S, but sort of not. Makes sense huh? I'm pretty much still eating 3 meals a day, but they are pretty small, except dinner I may have a bit more. Like my breakfast may be at 11:30 and I'll have a handful of carrots and some grapes. 2 hours later maybe a salad and fruit. It's just so hot out, I don't want much more. I haven't been doing S weekends too much either. I saw your blog post and am so glad to see you back. I know you can get back in the swing of things.
My house is done. The tile looks great. It feels so good to clean my floors and know that hey are really clean. Can't do that with carpet. Me and the kids are back at school. We had a very short summer. But with 106 degree days, it feels like we should be at the beach every day.
I totally want to stay in touch. Are you officially back to No S today? Talk to you soon.

Hey Shannon. I always enjoy seeing you on the boards. Things are going well. Just talked to my hubby and looks like we're going on a mini vacation for labor day. I'm so excited. Maybe utah or Arizona. I just like being out in nature and hiking.
No, I don't teach or take classes. I work in the Cafeteria. yea, the dreaded lunch lady. I laugh, cause it's so different out here in Cali. The poor kids don't even get homemade food. It's all frozen, maybe some fresh fruit. I only work 2 hours a day, but it's in my boys high school and I get to keep an eye on them. They actually like having me around. 2 more years my baby girl will be there.
How are things going with you Shannon? How's your MIL?

Hi Denise -- I apologize for the delayed response! The past couple of weeks have been somewhat crazy, but it a good way, as we soaked up the last bit of vacation. Everything is going well and my MIL is improving a little in that the tumors aren't growing and her liver levels are better too. We are very thankful. :)

I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day trip with your family!!!! ... Your job sounds ideal. One of my DD's friends works in the school lunchroom and I think it's great that she can be off when her kids are off, etc.

I'm where you are Mimi. I'm now trying my own rules out. Based on No S, but rules that work with my life. This is what I'm doing but will reevaluate in time.
3 meals a day
No Sweets (exception is bible study if available and a tiny amount)
No 2nds, 9 inch plate or smaller (breakfast for example)
Snacks only if needed. A snack will be a small piece of fruit. No more that 2 per day.
Also Bunko 1 x a month is an exception.
S days are off from the rules of course.
I may paste and copy this to my check in. I haven't used the check in for awhile. Haven't really needed to, but do read the boards.
Welcome back, Jan. Your not in this alone.
I posted this on the discussion board. I need to make this work with my life, but allow for gradual weight loss.
I forgot, I still fast till dinner on Mon. Not always the most enjoyable, but I feel like my body needs it. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

This sounds like a very terrific/sane plan, Denise! :D I think it is so critical to find what is going to work for each of us as individuals. How are things going so far?

Hey Shannon. Things are going really great. I'm experimenting with breakfast. I haven't been eating it, except when I get to work at 11:15 and eat some fruit and rice cakes. Well for 2 days I've had a small breakfast at around 10:30 and it seems to be taking care of my hunger later iin the day. Hence the fruit for snacks.
Today should be interesting. We're having a potluck at work for one of my coworker bday. I know there will be dessert. I may have a small bite or two of the desserts. This is what usually trips me up. I like to feel involved and enjoy celebrations. With my own plan I think I can. This will be one of my exceptions. Sticking to one plate of course.

Hey Denise -- I hope you had fun at the potluck! I totally understand about not wanting to miss out at celebrations and your plan sounds like a good one, one that will meet your needs. I hope that you have a fantastic weekend! :D
