I made it through my first N day! SUCCESS!!!!! Those Swedish Fish and the coffee cake in my kitchen are gonna keep staring at me all week though. I'll be amazed if I make it to Saturday, but at least with nos I can just tell myself "Wait" instead of a flat-out "No".

FAIL!!!! Well, my second day and I screwed up already! :x Think from now on I'll try putting the candy away in a drawer or something-they say "Out of sight=Out of mind", maybe "Out of sight=Out of mouth" too! At least I resisted the coffee cake, that counts for something, right?

SUCCESS yesterday and today. It's been hard, though. No more candy temptation cause I finished it off on Tuesday, but I was hungry all day yesterday and today. :( Maybe working in another meal will help, but in the past it hasn't. I seem to want 3 meals, can only lose weight on 1, so it hardly seems worth it to bring my weight loss to a halt so I can be a little less hungry with a second meal. But then I wasn't doing nos the last time I tried 2 meals, so I think I'll try it and see what happens. BTW, I got on the scale Wed. (I do this weekly) and weighed 118 same as last Wed. I'm not expected fast loss with nos, though. Even a pound a month would be OK, if I can keep it off.

Success Friday, I made it through my first week! On Saturday I did have a bowl of sugary cereal and some of that coffee cake (finally!). Sunday was a cinnamon bun and a whole bunch of popcorn, which would've been OK if it had been plain popcorn, but it was the regular buttery kind. Friday was easier than the other days, I guess cause I knew "I can eat what I want tomorrow". I think this may be the start of a pattern for me, Monday's not too bad cause I'm still kinda "feeding off of" the weekend permissiveness, and Friday's OK cause I know I only have 1 more day to wait, but it gets harder in the middle of the week. But I think it will help when I can come up with some good breakfast options and also when I can think up an exercise program I can do.

Monday, SUCCESS, Tuesday, SUCCESS, Wednesday, SUCCESS, Thursday, ??? (see post "Is this failure or not?"). My second nos week has actually been OK, so far. Contrary to my weekend prediction, Monday was the hardest day, while Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty easy. Mom even brought home some cherry pull n peel Twizzlers Wednesday and so far I've only been mildly tempted.

Well, the last couple weeks of no-sing have been easy...because I've had stomach flu. :( But I'm hoping things will still be easier after I get better. BTW, my last 4 weekly weigh-ins (I do it on Wednesday, I had this idea that "Wacky Weigh-in Wednesday" might sound fun) have all been the same: 118 pounds. So for 1 whole month I have not lost or gained a single pound. I would be happy if I'd lost some, but this is sort of a change for me, as normally my weight fluctuates by 1-4 pounds each week. Could my consumption of sweets (the only thing I've really cut down on with no-s, since I was never much for seconds or snacks, anyway) really have been what was making my weight go up and down each week?

This is my 6th week nos-ing and after staying stable the first 4 weeks, I've now lost 5 lbs in these last 2 weeks. So naturally I'm feeling a bit better about the whole thing now. It's strange, most people go on diets and lose a few lbs right away, then stall out, it seems I sorta did the opposite.

Ok, I guess you can tell I haven't checked in or done my HabitCal in awhile  I got frustrated because I'd gotten down to 113 pounds, then the next week I happened to think to make sure the scale was set right on 0 before I got on (it wasn't, I had to move it up) and it read 117 pounds. So either the scale was off the 113 week or I gained 4 pounds in one week. :x

So I've been doing this nos thing, and not really having many red days or going too crazy on S-days, for 2 and a half months and I've lost and gained, but am currently just 1 pound under what I weighed when I started back in April. So I'm not sure if nos is gonna work for me, or maybe I need to add something to it.

If your scale was off, it's hard to know how much you lost. I'm sorry you're feeling No S isn't getting you where you want. How's your exercise! It's such a smart way to live, it seems it would be worth it to see if there is a way to work with the structure. I haven't read all your posts, so forgive me if I don't know if you've tried any of the mods. The one that I already had been using for many meals even before No S was having about half the volume of my meals in vegetables and fruits. If you haven't used something like that, it might be something to start easing into.

BTW, is your BMI under 25? I'm sure you know the closer you want to be to the lower end of the normal range, the harder it usually is to get there, and often completely unnecessary for health reasons.

Good luck!

I haven't tried any mods yet, still catching up on my reading of the boards here and trying to figure out what might work best. I'm getting ready to start doing some exercise too, I think that may help. It is tricky because I have cerebral palsy and can not walk, so a lot of the usual things aren't an option. My BMI is 24.7, so I'm in the "normal" category, but just barely. Sometimes I have considered just giving up on the whole dieting business and living with a little extra weight, but in my family there is a very high incidence of morbid obesity and early onset heart disease, so I kinda think "Well, I know how hard it is just to lose 10 pounds, so imagine how hard it'll be if you let things escalate until you wind up with 100 pounds to lose!".
