Success -day 1- starting At 176. I'm very excited about this! It justvmakes so much sense!

Day 2

by Mrandy1
I had gotten down to 165 from an all time high of 180...and stayed around 165 for about a year and a half....then last September I started falling off the wagon by snacking....and over the space of about 3 months I regained 10 pounds. I just stumbled on the No S website yesterday when I was googling for diets and snacking....the no s website caught my attention and I was taken with the elegant simple (but not too simple) brilliance of the system to build positive habits.....anyway I'm very excited to begin! A good day to everyone!

Breakfast - 1.5 cups of cheerios and 1 cup of skim milk + coffee w a little milk added.

Day 2

Well day 2 is a success. Even though I'm hungry right now...I'm going to avoid the 6 double stuffed Oreos and wait until Saturday for a treat of that nature...last week I walked for 60 minutes on my treadmill and then promptly had a glass of chocolate soy milk and 6 double stuffed Oreos. I am done with that lunacy (although they were very good---Im waiting till the S days to have some sort of treat)

Day 3

Here we go day 3

Breakfast - oatmeal at macdonalds!--it happens to be great! And a coffee w milk.

Breakfast and lunch are not the problem---it's the snacking ---but I'm very excited that s days are only 4 days away.

I love this!!

Day 3 comes to a close and was a success.

Onward to day 4!

S days getting closer!

Day 4-breakfast

by Mrandy1
Well today shd be interesting!--I'm in a diner and i ordered scrambled eggs, toast no butter --so the plate comes and it's scrambled eggs, toast-no butter, and home fried potatoes. So it's on the plate and it's 1 plate so I ate it! I'm sticking with the 1 plate per meal rule even if it means indulging myself which in this case was unexpected.

Anyway I remain 100% committed to modifying my behavior which for the most part includes lots of snacking and lots of seconds or thirds.

Onward and upward.

Success - thus ends my ist 5 n days.

It's really fascinating building this habit of 3 meals a day with no sweets, no snacks, and no seconds.

Friday night is usually a big meal in our house, so what I did tonight was "build" my plate with what I wanted to be my complete meal. When I finished my plate, consisting of chicken, salad, rice, a half sweet potato, and some string beans, & challah bread, it was so clear to see that ordinarily I'd be going back for seconds or thirds of the various foods on the table. Then later in the evening I would usually grab some cookies, or pretzels, or nuts ---something! That ain't happening tonight! I'm done!

So tomorrow is my ist official S day---I don't plan on going wild, but I am going to a friend's birthday party tomorrow night so I'll be relaxed, but not an idiot about what I eat.

Anyway I thank this forum for all of the great input available here done with great kindness! What a great system and what a great place to learn how to implement No-S.

Andy

Having a very nice s day! Nothing too wild yet, but the night is young! I went out and bought a 10pound sledgehammer today!---did my 14 minutes dancing around my basement with that heavy thing!

Anyway off to a birthday party---where I intend to stay cool!---I think I'll have a martini!---I know thats got nothing to do with the system---but I'm gonna allow myself to have a good time---just not too extreme with either food or drink!

I love this!

But the system is still very young for me--I feel like I'm conducting a great experiment on myself that will last for the rest of my life! We shall see!

S day

Last nite - had seconds & thirds of baked ziti--- and was munching on some m&ms at the bday party I went to. Not too bad though and I had a good time.

today I'll prob just have 3 plates..& nothing too extreme

Feeling good!

Love No-s!

something very soothing about getting back to an n day.

My s days were pretty mellow extremes--even the bday party I went to I didnt get too crazy and I enjoyed the freedom to have seconds & thirds of baked ziti! ---skipped on the bday cake, but had a bunch of m&m's!

Anyway back to N!

Totally psyched.

I did all right yesterday

But the snacking wasn't all that satisfying--- a few Oreos, a few pretzels, and a few chips---was happy to know I could have them, but after I ate them I felt like they were a waste! Strange!

Today's s day will probably be a but more moderate, although yesterday really was not out of control

Plus a played a pretty intense tennis match yesterday - so great exercise.

Shovel gloved this morning - 14 minutes

Looking forward to n day tomorrow!

Ist Failure

by Mrandy1
Reached for a few extra pieces of duck at last nite's family dinner. Not a terrible failure but a failure nonetheless---but I do have a strategy in place for next week!--- it was a Friday night family dinner w my in laws...and it was a "shabbat" dinner and quite a feast!---next week I'll simply have the dishes not within reaching distance--- my kids are fully supportive of no s and if they saw me sneaking those extra pieces of duck they would have shouted "dad!! What r u doing??" so I'm going to advise them of my violation and next week I believe I will be more vigilant!

I remain 100% committed!

Everyone enjoy their S day. I intend to enjoy it with enthusiastic moderation!

s day

Posted: Sun Apr 10, 2011 1:28 pm
by Mrandy1
enjoyed yesterday--not too crazy but i had an extra drink and some small chocolate wafer bars ---its fun to indulge, but i wasnt over the top

i am down 6.2lbs since march 20th.

i've told my kids i'm conducting as experiment on myself and they've gotten into the the whole no s approach.

so i'm not sure where this system will take me as far as weight is concerned, but i believe it will ultimately deliver me to whatever is my "ideal" weight...im gonna let the system determine what my weight should be!

so we shall see.

no S vanilla is what i'm doing!

plus sledgehammering 14 minutes everyday---may take today off---at the very least im doing in m-f.

N day! Yay!!

Feels great to get back to the structure of an N day!

Today I begin the 4th week

I had one failure which was rather instructive.

I'm down 6.2 lbs since 3/20/11

Hunger pang

What I've noticed is that by eating 3 meals a day with nothing in between, I'm getting good old fashioned hungry pangs that are becoming quite manageable----hmm maybe snacking used to mask those pangs, and atthe same time did nothing to diminish what I'd eat at any particular meal. Anyway I must say I am thoroughly enjoying this no s journey. It's quite a challenge but I have to say it's fun!

treated both seders as S days---so had three S days in a row.

no problem

started no s 32 days ago- down 6 lbs. a couple of blips along the way, but the trend is down.

my goal remains wherever NO S leads me---in my head that # is 165, but i'm interested to see where my weight naturally lands.

Hi Andy,
I'm doing the same thing; doing No S and accepting whatever weight I land at!

holding steady at around 170 down from 176 when i started on march 20th.

i was a little less than strict at meals this week---reached for a few seconds when i shouldnt have...that said i'm going to tighten my resolve in the days ahead...im shooting for moderate s days this weekend...and then doing hard core vanilla no s starting monday. on a very positive note, i have not snacked once in between meals! that is a huge change!..i think my main vulnerability is reaching for seconds...i am able to avoid the snacks in between means and reaching for sweets is not my weakness...so my plan is to keep with the program and maybe put a little more on my plate to avoid the "seconds" problem.

I remain convinced that for me No S is the best long term approach to healthy moderate eating.

ive also stopped weighing myself everyday because i believe NO S will take me to the right weight whatever that is!

finally, ive been doing my sledgehammer exercise 14 minutes a day,,,walking a fair amount each day....plus im playing tennis a few times a week

lose weight as reinhard says is simply eat less and move more. that remains my day to day goal.

S day today and yesterday.

thouroughly enjoyed dinner last nite at a new local greek restaurant---and enjoyed the desserts which were a real treat!..some chocolate thing w vanilla ice cream plus some doughy sweet donuts---a real S day treat.

today will be a more moderate S day and then tomorrow Vanilla No S!
