Lemonzest's Daily Check-in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Lemonzest's Daily Check-in

Post by lemonzest » Sun Feb 26, 2012 8:11 pm

Alright, tomorrow I officially begin.

I'll follow all guidelines of No S: No Sweets, No Snacks, No Seconds - Except on S-days.

I'm hoping to reach my goal weight/size by the end of the year. Slow and Steady.

I can accept 150
I'll be happy with 140
I'll scream with joy if I reach 135

I'll add exercise sometime soon. I'll just focus on eating right now.

Today is the first day. I almost had a weak moment. I have some delicious ice cream in my freezer and it was really calling my name. I thought about giving in and starting over tomorrow but I had a small window of clear thinking. I said to myself "Self, if you eat that ice cream and "start tomorrow" you will always be starting tomorrow. You'll give in the next day and continue with the I'll-start-over-tomorrow syndrome. You'll never see progress and you'll be the same weight next week. Just think about how good that ice cream will be on Saturday or Sunday"

So, right now I am having a cup of herbal tea. And when I get off the computer I will get busy with something else to take my mind off the ice cream.

Have you had this kind of struggle?
Start: 177.8 (14)
Current: 177.8 (14)
Goal: 135 (8)
