Misha's Daily Check-In

Hi! I'm a newbie -- a petite 51 year-young woman who is great at exercising but notoriously self-indulgent with eating and terrible at obeying diets. I have engaged in bad daily habits all my life (snacking, sugar, seconds) and would like to break those habits so I can lose the last 15 pounds before menopause eventually hits. After much research, this seems to be the most sensible, non-crazy-making "diet" plan out there which will actually address my core issues instead of focusing my attention on point counting, carb counting, etc.. So here I am! .... One day at a time!

Hi Misha,
Welcome and best wishes. We all seem to have the same goals in mind here: peace with food and enjoyable lasting weight control. I suggest you read some testimonials to bolster your courage. They are quite inspiring. Good luck. Happy to see you here!

Thanks for the warm welcome, JW and KittyKat! I appreciate it.

My eating has been good yesterday and today --- 3 solid meals each day -- except for the fact that I had a few hershey kisses today and a couple yesterday. As I snacked on the bits of sugar, I rationalized it as a miniscule amount.

Neither choice was in response to an intense craving, but I'm so accustomed to pursuing the thought that says, "I want ..."

Looking back, it wasn't the chocolate I wanted as much as it was the desire to silence the discomfort the thought, "I want" creates in me! So I need to learn to observe the thought process and challenge it, rather than react to it. Reading the testimonials, as JW suggested, might be a good place to start.

Otherwise, I'm happy!
