I grew up a Cold War baby living near Washington, DC.
Living in fear of the end of the world just isn't productive. It wasn't that nuclear war COULDN'T have happened. We came close several times. It's that it DIDN'T and I wasted a lot of my life feeling futile that there wouldn't BE any life, so why prepare?
Just life and accept you DONT know what tomorrow will bring is the best answer I can give.
