Ill-chosen ads on YouTube

Writing about it here as I am frustrated that there is no way that I know of to stop/change what YouTube ads I am presented with.
I go to listen to Schubert Lieder and get forced to listen to a lengthy advert for a pop group that I'd pay NOT to listen to... And then there's the mature dating site beckoning: why do they think I want to see that, or even not offer me the chance to say I'd rather see something less depressing - soap flakes perhaps?
I wonder if there's even anyone at YouTube who cares. Is it all mechanised and profit-focused, with no-one listening apart from the accountants? But, if that is true, why don't they notice I never respond to the ads they seem to think I want to see?
