---JUNE Challenge---
Going to go ahead and start the June challenge because I'm excited about getting back on track! Edit because I forgot: Friday the 3rd, we are hosting a bonfire after dark. You know what that means...S'MORES! Used a 'wink' because I am just taking an S event to have a S'more. Going to try to keep the rest of the day green.

Nothing social whatsoever going on, the weekends of 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19, so I plan to keep them green and use NWS days during the week.
(That was a good choice as cake oriented opportunities kept cropping up on my chosen NWS days!)

i'm in, too...
the challenges keep me focused...
3 june - fail with a half of the buckwheat crepe filled with spinach and roquefort cheese - after i have already had my 3 meals... but worth it!
17 june - fail with an ice-cream in the city with my son, similar to the fail i had a month and a half ago...

Yeah, blew it on Day One, but I wanted something after I finished dinner and had some chips and salsa.
Day Two was a success despite all sorts of sweets at work.
Mowed the lawn and there was no way I was going to make it to dinner without a snack. Okay, I could have made it, but I would have been unhappy.

I'll say I'm in, even though I guess I'm never committed enough to actually record each day, here or anywhere. Hmmm.

LOVE s'mores! I took an S day last month for one too! (and I love the idea of using the wink for an S event, thanks for explaining. s'more kind of has a wink in the word, with that apostrophe...)MaggieMae wrote:Going to go ahead and start the June challenge because I'm excited about getting back on track! Took a red day today--another friend had a garage sale and I had more stuff to sell--worked a lot yesterday and today, coupled with the heat, and I was just hungry! I ate dinner, sat about 30 minutes & was still really hungry, so I decided to go for seconds. But it felt like a "controlled decision," which I'm really happy about.

Hi everyone, I'm new and didn't see an "intros" thread so I figured I'd just jump in here if that's OK.
I lost about 47 pounds running and counting calories a few years back. Running eventually hurt my back so I traded it for HIIT and strength training (Fitness Blender), gradually stopped logging my food, then hurt my back again in December and started yoga instead. Now my back feels AMAZING and I love yoga, but I've crept up about 20 lbs. Decided to try low carb and remembered how much I hate it...then remembered the No S Diet I had read about while doing My Fitness Pal. I'd like my No S days to incorporate a steep decrease in processed foods and sugars, because I do believe sugar is a problem in our society, but I can't stomach (sorry) the idea of giving up my gorgeous homemade breads and desserts forever. I think for now that will be my only modification. I don't need to lose these 20 lbs in 3 months...I'm more concerned about my overall health now.
So could someone divulge the secret to setting up one of those nifty calendar things?

Welcome! Glad you can join us! I haven't cut sugar entirely, but limiting sweets to S days has made me feel better in a lot of ways--I've been very pleased with the results!knitapeace wrote:Hi everyone, I'm new and didn't see an "intros" thread so I figured I'd just jump in here if that's OK.

When you hit reply, you'll see some emoticons to the left of the reply box. People do a variety of things, but often use the yellow arrow for days in the previous month , one of the smileys for S days , and the green one (click "view more emoticons" to see that one--a pop-up window will show it) for N days . Just click the emoticon and it will appear at the end of your writing. Then you can copy and paste it where you want.
HTH and have fun!

Thank you for the welcomes! I added my little green man to my first post. I'm calling yesterday a success even though I did have to eat a few almonds between lunch and dinner. I have an embarrassing issue in that no matter how well or often I eat, my stomach always growls REALLY loudly in between meals. And these are deep, distracting hunger growls and not digestion or gas. My officemate teases me about them but they are really embarrassing! And at this point I'm so accustomed to snacking I think I need to ease out of it rather than go cold turkey. So as long as I'm not eating some kind of carby sweet, I am going to allow myself to curb loud growling with either a piece of fruit or a small amount of nuts. As I learn how to eat more substantial, satisfying meals I think I will grow out of the snacking.
knitapeace, the tummy growls you described used to happen to me all the time, especially between b'fast and lunch. I have no idea why, but it was terribly embarrassing. Strangely enough, I haven't experienced that with No S. The first couple of weeks my stomach felt empty and I had a hollow feeling that I interpreted as 'hunger', but no growling. It could be because I was actually eating a big enough breakfast for a change? Not really sure, but I hope yours eventually subsides too.
Welcome and good luck on your No S journey!
