Pastor & Couple Coming to dinner

Post by connorcream » Thu Nov 13, 2008 2:28 am

DH&I have been trying to have this threesome over for dinner for about 6 months. One thing after another kept putting it off including a heart attack for the wife who is 45 yrs.

So I am offering strawberries and/or pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Cheesecake is 570 cal/serving, made from the Cheesecake Factory's Recipe. I am between taking a red day, a yellow day, or just eating the strawberries and feeling like I am on a SAD diet because of the upcoming holidays. Weight loss has gone slowly but clothes fitting better has been quicker. Rest of the meal is a Shepherd's Pie, salad, and homemade bread.

What would you do?

I would make it an S event. You follow the rules for most of the day but relax them a little at dinner in honor of your guests. Dinner guests are a Special event.

If you are concerned about too many S days/events coming on top of each other, just follow the modification about "earning" S days.

It depends...

Have you had a lot of NWS (non-weekend S days) already this month, or expect a lot? If not, go for it. (About 2 a month works for most people, it seems.)

If you eat the cheesecake, will it be a "gateway" or a one-time treat? If it will be a one-time treat, go for it.

And the biggest question... will you ENJOY it or feel guilty? :)

It can be an "S-event" rather than an S-day - a one-time treat in an otherwise perfectly green day.

It's your call. But if you have it, enjoy every bite! And if you don't, enjoy the company and the feeling of virtue (instead of feeling deprived).

Best wishes.

Connorcream,

too late to weigh in, but hope your evening was delightful and whatever you decided that you had a very good time,

I'd call it an S event, and proceed with the rest of the week as usual. Just relax and enjoy your company.

Unless this is something that comes up frequently (doesn't sound like it) I'd just call it an S-day and enjoy.

Howdy,
I finally have had a chance to reply. Thank you for your generous suggestions. The pastor was unable to make it and the couple had 2 of their children come down with a high fever and had to take them to a clinic.

The family that all was going to be well because their was the cheesecake but I happily pointed out we can save it for Saturday:-)

So I had decided to eat in honor of the guests but was glad I didn't have to.

What nice people to have taken the time to respond.
