I really like that name

I agree with deb, that even now, for sorting ideas for an essay, this could
be useful.

about 15 years ago an historian and academic in australia developed this
system and promoted it. his name is humphrey mcqueen.

he started it for himself, then for his students, and I came across it at
an
adult education course he gave in tasmania.

it was the same thing. for him he said an idea per card. and when you are
done all that you could then put the ideas in all sorts of interesting
experimental formations, and see connections you would not ordinarily make.

he told a funny story. all lecturers have to deal with student excuses as
to
why assignments are late. usually they are very receptive. this student
came
up with one that was impossible for humphrey (great name huh) to turn down.
the student said he was riding with his manila folder of note cards across
a
bridge in canberra (high off the ground) when the wind gusted an blew the
folder away and distributed all the cards over lake burleigh griffin!

cheers

jen
