The Vulture
by Hillaire Belloc
The Vulture eats between his meals,
And that's the reason why
He very, very, rarely feels
As well as you and I.
His eye is dull, his head is bald,
His neck is growing thinner.
Oh! what a lesson for us all
To only eat at dinner!

I love it!
1) it's a fun poem on it's own merits
2) it shows how historically unacceptable "snacking" is. Much better to call it what it is: "eating between meals" than legitimize it with the cutesy term "snacking."
3) it gives a wonderfully awful image to knock you into line if you're tempted to stray
I'm putting it near the top of things I should move to the home page. Thank you for posting!
