The amount of imagination which you put into your systems and scenarios is very special and I figured that even your "terminated" systems would be fun to hear about, especially with *those* names! As usual, I laughed out loud when I read the application for system use. Dishes? They are pretty daunting at times... I like your ideas alot though because they are so whimsical. Now the only problem left with the dishwasher is "who gets to unload it and put the dishes away?" You have a fantastic sense of humor, and I could see you writing ideas for a tv show or something, where the mild mannered computer programmer goes through his day in a kind of conventional "computer guy" persona, but in his mind there is always some sort of exciting battle waging, against these everyday things, which would get played out with "fantasy" scenes that are interspersed between his home and worker drone, settings.... So Reinhard, I still don't know your age but this reference might be lost on you if you are somewhat younger than myself...(Just to place you within some sort of perspective, how old are you anyway?) There was a great BBC show on years ago in the seventies, called "The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin"...It utilized these types of internal "fantasy" asides, as the main characters running commentary...It was hilarious... Have you ever seen it? If not, find some way of getting a copy and checking it out. It's a scream. This also reminds me of the scene from a favorite movie of mine called "Withnail and I" about two out-of-work actors, living in a pig stye...I remember one of the roommates, as he is looking at this stacked to overflowing sink of dishes, and trying to find a teacup that he thinks that there may be "matter" in the sink that is moving! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, and it was worth waiting for..So charming as usual :) Thank you Reinhard, you can really deliver! Fortunately I am *finally* feeling physically better!!! Wow, being sick can really throw me totally out of wack. At some other time I will post some ideas I have about the, always present, and ever challenging "mundane" tasks we have to "attack". And from now on if I have to do some dishes I will try bellowing "Die, dishes. Die!" and see if it helps my momentum : ) When I was a kid, my mom took me to Symphony Space to see a childrens theater group lead by a wonderfully creative dramatist named Judith Martin, called "Paper Bag Players" I still remember this routine and song they called "Dirty Dishes" The chorus was, "Dirty dishes, dirty dishes...If I had three wishes, I'd wish away these dirty dishes" My ideas on housecleaning, chores, menial "women's work", lol would be too humor dousing, so I will wait and write about them some other time...I'm not sure if they would constitute a "system" anyway. Love, Deb ps. hope little baby no s is deliciously enjoyable for you :) |
