Yes, I often do the same when I am trying to hit a steps target. It makes it more manageable.
The other way is to get a good chunk of my steps by a morning walk, & pick the rest up through
incidental activity during the day. Either way gets me out of my chair.

The last thing most of us need is applying terms like clean to our food & eating. Hair shirt anyone?

It sounds like you are genuinely hungry when you get home from work. You also said it is not

in with NoS. It's the planning ahead that is important, to prevent random eating and all that goes

Re: Keys to lifestyle change success?

When I was weaning myself off my worst highly processed sugar & fat combo binge food, I used the substitution method, finding a substitute that was similar but didn't have the same addictive quality for me and allowing myself to eat that when the cravings hit. Eventually I stopped eating my substitu...

Re: Simmstone's 'Obsessive Moderation'

Well, this is usually the time when I come on the board and lament how much I gained over the holidays... but, this year, I didn't. I've been following No S for so long now, that even my rebounds are mild. I'm a very different eater than I was in 2011 (when I committed to this way of eating). Well ...

You might find when you get out of the habit of eating sweets for lunch that fruit is an adequate substitute and you won't miss the sweets.

Reflections on 2019 I have maintained a loss of about 10 lbs on No S for the last year. This time last year I was several lbs lighter, having had a bit of a relapse after having the flu earlier this year. Actually, on looking back on my records, my low on NoS was in Nov 2018, so obviously I started ...

I take your point about daily exercise being better for habit building. I find that it can take up to 5 days for my muscles to fully recover from a hammering, but that is just me. 1 or 2 days per week of any particular exercise such as a long walk or bike ride or strength training is sufficient for ...

Hi Lizzy,
now that I know that the man concerned was actually sitting next to your desk while trying to get you to eat, I can understand why you went and collected food which you didn't want. But as far as I am concerned, his behaviour was out of line.

Pretty well Oolala, except for a bout of gastritis which lead to a sudden impulse meal to catch up a couple of days later after some light eating. I'll call it S for sick days. Hope your eating is settling down again, sounds like Txgiving went well for you. We don't have a holiday like that here in ...

Updating - Tues 29 Oct -Tues 19 Nov success on N days for no seconds, sweets, snacks, except for 2 nibbles on a friends garden produce which I don't count. I think of it as practice which is establishing new brain circuits and weakening old ones. Like any new skill, it takes time and effort. I still use distraction a lot, including diverting myself into activity instead of food, sometimes at the last minute. Worth the effort.

I too don't consider No S to be a diet, it is just the way I eat nowadays - even when I am not compliant, I still think of myself as a person
who doesn't eat between meals.

Re: Just some thoughts

That might depend on how much distress your current eating pattern is causing you in itself. However, I suspect that for most people, cutting out eating between meals is enough to cause some weight loss. If, like me, you are prone to out of control eating, then simply establishing an ordered eating ...

Hi April - it's early days for you yet, yes 6 months is early when you are trying to change life long habits.
