Sounds like you need more protein and maybe a little more fat. Both help keep blood sugar stabilized and trigger "saiety" in the brain.

Oddly enough, the only time I watch TV is during dinner. It tends to make me eat too fast, but I try to stay mindful. My husband insists on having it on during dinner. Drives me nuts, but there it is. He keeps it on for background noise and also ends up getting sucked into crap shows. Usually as soo...

That is a good idea. When I was in the AF, our squadron would hold a chili cookoff to raise money for local kids charities. A bunch of folks would bring in a big pot of homemade chili and we'd sell it at lunch time, and managed to make quite a few $$ for it. And of course, we'd have a contest for th...

And another nice difference is that our gracious host doesn't blame every single aspect of obesity on a single factor - just because he trademarked it. ;) Sorry - I read the Mastering Leptin book and as a useful and accurate manual for dietary improvement, it's a load of rubbish. Because this explot...

Exercise doesn't really increase the calorie demand that much, compared to basic metabolic rate. At least not in the short term. Muscle building increases the basic metabolic rate in the long run - but the actual calories burned during the exercise isn't that much when you look at the numbers. Perso...

I remember this sf story I read when I was in high school (I wish I could remember the author or the title) in which advertising was on everything, even individual toilet paper squares, Is that "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", by Harlan Ellison? I only vaguely remember it, myself, though I kn...

In what way is it more of a matter of physics than chemistry? I don't know about the low-carb thing either. I lost quite a bit of weight on it, kept it off for years and didn't gain anything back until I started stuffing high-carb crap in my face again, and even then I had to do it for over a year. ...

That's interesting - I have normally "Counted" weigh-ins on Saturday morning (and used them to curtail weekend endulgences) and again on Monday to assess the damage. (And I am slowly considering starting this program.) Note to others, especially if you are using the shovelglove - don't just weigh, m...

I recently read about the "Mastering Leptin" plan, and it recalled me to when I found the No S website. I refer to it as the No-S**t Diet because it's really just so obvious! I told my husband that the next diet craze may actually be Eating Sensibly. I've never actually TRIED the "NO S" being a bit ...
