There is the popular bakery in Soho or Greenwich Village called the Magnolia Bakery. Specializes in cupcakes. The best sweet thing I have ever put into my mouth (and I can eat cake for dinner, trust me). The cupcakes are small, more like European size. I lived in NY for two years for I found out abo...

In boot camp, I usually had a meat with a huge salad. No sweets at all. We were allowed to re-visit the salad bar and I often did. In IT school, I had whatever I wanted, but usually in smaller portions. I had started to learn to eat until I was not hungey instead of eating for X grams or Carbs, prot...

Personal experiences, in support of NOS

I started my journey as a 5'5" 230 lb 15 year older wearing size 42 pants. I lost 60 pounds in a summer by counting carbs and fat and exercising. I fell into a bodybuilding type program. I would eat protein protein protein, but could bever get lean. I started getting leaner, with out extra exercise ...

Advice on forming habits

Does anyone know of any good articles on habit building? I love the premise of the NOSDIET, but I have the almost compulsive habit of eating food just because it is there. Everytime I walk by food, I grab a bite. My usually nibble my wat through the day, 15 bites of food throughout the day add up qu...

Is this a failure?

I am in the US Coast Guard and stationed on a ship. I have a set meal schedule, but a fluctuating work schedule. I will not go to bed tonight until 4:00 AM, but dinner was at 5:30. Didn't even finish me meal (ate most of it though). I worked out right after dinner (6 3-minute rounds on a punching ba...

It is good to get hungry between meals

I have been trying the intuitive eating, only eat when you are hungry approach. I found that I still never let myself get truly hungry. Now, with no snacking, it is 5 hours or so between meals and I get truly hungry. This is my third day, and so far I love it. Any body else here just trying to drop ...

Thanks for the advice. Honestly, I have found that I usually get hungry in between meals anyway if I do not snack. The only exeption is if breakfast is at 8 and lunch is at 1145. (I'm on a Coast Guard ship, meals are served at a set time). I think I can also eat a smaller breakfast (coffee and a pie...

If you are not hungry at meal times, do you wait or eat?

If I eat a filling breakfast, I find I may not want lunch, or if I eat both lunch and breakfast and lunch I don't want dinner. This probably won't be a problem since I am not snacking. Do YOU eat a meal even if you are not hungry, or do you wait until you are hungry. What if I am eat a snack like fo...

Questions from a newbie

Today is my first day following NO S. I want to lose about 15-20 pounds. I am currently 180, but once weighed in at 230 @ 5'6 inches tall. I am athletic and train hard. Here are my problems and my planned approach. I am a grazer. My meals are usually small, but I eat all day long. I do not see anyth...
