And so the circle is complete... D'oh, I knew I should have done a search on this topic before posting! I gave that move a try, that "swinging it around your head" move. I believe the potential for hurting myself is greater than any benefit it might give me at this point, so I will stick with shove...

Hindu workout vid on YouTube

Has anyone seen this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyUsEb82jZs It's from an Indian film by Satyajit Ray called "The Apu Trilogy," with a few shots of traditional Hindu workouts (Hindu pushups, squats, etc.). At about 23 seconds in, the guy starts swinging around a stick with a wei...

8 lbs. was more than I could handle; I managed to find a 6 lb'er at Lowe's. I'm starting to move down the handle too. I spied some biceps on myself this morning, hidden under my arm flab. :) My morning SG routine goes something like this: 50 shovels each side 20 chop wood each side 20 "Fireman" each...

Haven't been checking in, but I have been sticking to it: Day 5, Friday: SUCCESS Days 6 & 7, S-Days. I treated myself on Saturday with a piece of chocolate cake that I tried to convince myself was small, but it was in fact quite large. I guess the good news is that there was none left to tempt me af...

Good job, moxie! I am hanging in there too -- can't remember if I'm on my second or third week now. However, I skipped this morning due to a little twinge in my back (which I don't believe is SG related -- I think I just slept on it wrong). I'm taking advil and stretching and hope to get to shugging...

Day 3: SUCCESS Tough one, though -- at around 4 PM a fellow cubicle slave offered me half an orange, which I accepted and very nearly chomped down on (even though I wasn't even hungry) without even thinking about it. Caught myself, and bagged it up for later. Breakfast, 10:30 AM: Nutrigrain bar Lunc...

Day 2: SUCCESS - Breakfast, 11 AM (late!): Nutrigrain bar - Lunch, 2 PM: Sandwich, banana, chips - Dinner, 7 PM: Chicken breast, sliced tomatoes, cous cous Twice last night I found myself wandering into the kitchen with the munchies. The first time I satisfied myself with a glass of milk, the second...

heidster's check-in

I sort of "unofficially" did the No-S diet all last week, almost unconsciously -- after reading about it and saying, "No snacks? No sweets? Impossible!" I sort of trained myself off them gradually. This week is official. Monday: Day 1 - SUCCESS - Breakfast: Half a banana, Nutrigrain bar - Lunch: san...

I too have just completed my first week of shugging -- however, I feel "womantastic." :) I took the advice of those here and started off light -- my broom handle is a bit too long to be swinging around the living room, though, so instead I used a baseball bat. Same basic length as the sledge, and ga...
