As others have said, this is actually a big deal, and especially your emotional reaction to turning down a bad habit. These "little" wins are actually huge in significance. It starts with one, and each time after that, the habit is strengthened and you gain more sovereignty over your bad habits.

I really like this, and I think Reinhard has recommended the same. One of Ferriss' readers had problems with cravings during the week, but instead of caving to them, she kept a piece of paper with her and wrote down each item that sounded so amazing during the week. Points well taken.
I agree that consistency and tracking trends is more important than exactly when you weigh yourself. As far as women timing weigh-ins with their cycle, I think that's great advice. As a man, I completely missed that. I'd have to post a bunch of rolleyes if someone considered it TMI.

Why You Should Stop Worrying About S-Day Gains (LONG)
Skip to second paragraph if you want to skip the back story. This relates to my "planned ignoring" of the scale. I've noticed some people check the scales on Monday morning and start hating themselves for enjoying S-Days. In a lot of my diet research, S-Day-type strategies are recommended. Since Tim...

I've eaten pizza twice on N-days, but have limited it to a single plate and have not suffered any gut bloat or any apparent fat gain. Chiangmaiboss, no disrespect, but what is wrong with using momentum? Is it not a natural, useful thing to speed up objects as we manipulate them? I know some people try to eliminate momentum, but I don't see where that applies once we're shovelling snow, throwing a ball, or jumping to catch a frisbee.

yup
Yeah, I totally underestimated the burpee until, for mere variety's sake, started doing them. As any fool would, I thought, "hey, I'm tough, how hard can it be?" I rolled the Workout Randomizer (thanks, Dan John), and apparently I'm doing burpees for intervals of 1 minute on/1 off for 14 min tomorro...

bodyweight move-Ecstatic Worshipper?
I couldn't think of a clever name. The exercise is called the burpee by most, the bastardo by some, and difficult by all who try it. There was some internet buzz on the burpee while back over a journal article in which prisoners in the California Correctional System or some such supposedly did burpe...

Optimized Oatmeal Revisited
Has anyone used a thermos to cook their oatmeal? I imagine that this way, steel cut oats could be used. Themoses are not hard to maintain, but it is a whole extra item to lug along. Back in the day, when I was getting ready for Y2K, I learned this from preparedness nuts. They can be some creepy peop...

I do a mix of stuff (barbell, kettlebell, bodyweight), although I'd like to finally codify things, trade some intensity for more frequency, etc. Fine tuning. I work with kids (TSS), so I am active. The 4-year old girl I work with needs to be carried a good deal in our community time, and often at ho...

evaluating priorities
After careful consideration, I've decided that maybe the "athlete" thing was more of a slippery slope excuse that has kept me in a holding pattern of bouncing from one excess to another, overtraining, overeating to recuperate, etc. Facing facts, I am not an athlete, I just like vigorous physical act...

No S for Athletes?
Hello, I was curious as to how this can be done. My training is very metabolically demanding and requires a goodly amount of energy (which makes it effective for fat loss). However, I have found that periodically, when my training really kicks up and my body decides to adapt by building muscle inste...

Warrior Diet-No Question
Mine was the Warrior Diet, in which you eat very small amounts of whole foods and water during the day, and then, after you work out, you eat a huge salad, then a protein and cooked veg, and lastly, whole food carbs.

I Done Fell Off'n the Wagon!
The last week of class and finals week, I buckled. I fell completely off the wagon and everything else was a deck of cards. The diet went, then the energy went, then I felt all crappy, and then the training went. My typical spring allergies followed, and it has taken until today to resolve to get ba...

This is mentioned on the NoS page, and I was curious as to whether it is in the works. I have had a decent time with NoS, and am wondering how to tackle the nutritional nuts and bolts.

Okay, are berries a sweet, then? I found I got very sensitized to sweet things from only having desserts on S-Days. I was countin git thus: Plain frozen berries or berries in oatmeal-not an S. Berries with 100% grapejuice-counts as an S. I kind of broke it down like this because I eat a good deal of...

Just a point to nit-pick: From 1980 to 2000, the percentage of Americans who were obese more than doubled, from 15 percent to 31 percent of the population, Mann noted. I feel vidicated here. Kevin's strategy is time-honored among martial artists, lifters, and others who like to get more out of their bodies. Call it "bracing," call it "feed-forward tension," or call it whatever you like. Soap Swings are an education. I'd start with a lighter bell than you've been swinging with, and yes, liquid dish soap. Don't expect a high rep count. The other note, from Pavel, is to not "candy up" the swing at all. That is, don't slow it down (making it easier on the grip and getting you more reps...

No, I haven't done anything huge that can be quantified. No big time milestones or anything. However, at work today, there were many reasons to celebrate: 2 birthdays and the seeing off of my mentor. A couple I recently tried are Floor Wipers with KB's, and "Renegade Manmakers." I guess the only way the names could have been worse would be if they were floor makers and man wipers. Silly. Charles Staley, whom I have great respect for, has said that a major problem in dieting is that people want to avoid hunger. He recommends that for those trying to lose fat, hunger between meals should be welcomed. So, in his view, hunger is relatively neutral, but it can be used to sabotage weight ...

Steve Justa on workouts for Fat Burning
Let me calmly state how much I doubt anyone has the time to invest in this. My wife and I saw that movie. Its apparent political message disturbed me greatly.
