Re: If you aren't losing: sobering fact about how much weight loss maintainers eat
The less active you are, the less you need to sustain your body. The older you are the less you eat, the shorter you are, etc. There are many studies conducted that do say a person who dieted down to one weight vs a person that doesn't diet is that weight both need to consume different amounts. The...

It is a common assumption that there are very few morbidly obese people older than 65, but you might be surprised to learn how many "healthy" morbidly obese older people there are here in the world. The anti-fat bias in our society often causes people to believe and state things that just aren't tru...

There are lots of "health-at-every-size" people, and "size-acceptance" coaches that can be found online who are working to help people with that issue. Re: Does the obesssion with food go away with Nos?
For Me, personally, the answer is No. My own belief is that it is necessary to lose the weight obsession before the food obsession goes. According to current research, if we can actually stop caring about our own size, and whether we are fat or thin, thoughts of food and it's importance in our life ...

Re: 80 year old lady no loss
Yes. Due to increasing age, and decreasing activity often due to aging, our metabolism becomes a bit lower every year, which means that in order to even stay the same weight, we need to take in a bit less food every year. For most weight-challenged older people, it is a chore to keep from gaining we...

Re: I have a problem with commitment. I need help!
How do I do that? How do I keep the faith? I need to stick to No S and to trust that it works. Anyone have any tips for doing that --how I can crowd out all the "diet" voices in my head telling me there's a better way? We all have to find our own way, and many people are content with "Vanilla" No S...

I wonder if people who get into other professions and decide they don't like it feel as bad about it as ex-teachers do? I know this is true for many in the Legal Profession. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/images/smilies/hug.gif Most of my fellow lawyers were like me, surprised to find they hated t...

I was under the impression that appetite decreased in those another 15 years older than I, so I'm not sure that's what mine is about, but it's not out of the question. Happened to be browsing a person's weight trend chart that has a section that shows observations on the data. Hers says recently, X is gaining 0.5 lbs/week of total weight. She is burning 253 cal/day less than she eats. Of course, it's very possible her weight gain is her body retaining water; with...

Is Overeating and Being Fat Ever Funny?
Ever feel like you take yourself too seriously?
Sometimes it just feels good to laugh about myself and my problems of overeating and obesity.

Oolala53, The link given here is to the Book Review which I wrote today, so I feel fairly certain that it hasn't been posted here before. At the end of my article I provide the code for the free e-book download. I've not seen that code in any other post here on No S. but as you say, "No matter, (th...

people can convince themselves that they are following No S if they consistently stack their plates high no matter what their real hunger is. No S cannot help you defy the laws of chemistry. You still have to eat less than you need if you are going to lose weight, and you are going to have to end u...

No matter how simple any plan is, the truth is that we have developed HABITS of eating that are not going to just go away just because we make a decision when there is no urge to eat. Food is naturally reinforcing and our brains are not going to forego those fleeting pleasures without a bit of a fi...

I've had to keep adjusting my intake downward and my hunger levels have dropped. There is a lot of variation. I think the moral of the story is to try to be sensitive to and honest about your real hunger and satiety levels rather than the scale. The less hungry you are, the less dense food you eat....

Re: For everyone?
how does this plan work for everyone? If everyone has 3 plates a day, and plates are roughly the same size, how can a short small woman and a big tall man eat the same and both lose weight? Clearly they are different heights and they won't need the same amount of calories, but theoretically followi...
