Thanks for the good suggestions, especially you, Reinhard. I'd been trying to think of how I could solve this problem in an Everyday Systems kind of way. I guess focusing on behaviors is the way to go. I've tended to shy away from singles-type sites/events. If my friends found out, they'd be like "o...

Getting a life
I'm a 19-year-old male in college, and I've never been on a date or kissed a girl. None of that stuff. No hand-holding in junior high, no backseat kissing in high school. All the while, my hormones have been raging, and they're not stopping. I'm unhappy with myself, although I get by from day to day...

I use the GIMP for all my image-editing needs. It runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. It's also free as in price and free as in freedom.

It seems to me that doing more reps tends to increase soreness. The fact that you've eased in to doing the whole 14 minutes rather than starting at it straight away seems to have helped, too. As a teenager who never exercised much before discovering shovelglove, I can attest that using an 8-lb. hamm...

To go completely off-track... I see that you're from Florida. Did you go to UF's Orange and Blue Game, by any chance?

Jordonk27's routine (and progress)
I've been shovelgloving since November, so I thought it would be useful for me to keep track of my routines and progress here. Here's my current routine (all are right, then left): 21 shoveling 21 churn butter 21 hoist sack 21 chop wood 14 flip the lever 21 driving fence posts 21 shoveling 14 churn ...

I've even decided to switch off my cellphone to make sure i don't get interrupted while exercising. That is a good idea. I started making a habit of it after I got a call while I was shovelgloving... Me, out of breath: "Hello?" Other person: "Are you all right?" Me: "Yeah, I'm fine, I'm just exerci...

I was slightly pudgy when I started No S. I lost 20-25 pounds in 4-5 months and became pretty slender. The pounds dropped quickly at first and then became harder to shed until my body decided I should weigh about 175. For the next year and a half, my weight remained pretty much constant, but now tha...

Preventing calluses
I've been shovelgloving for 6 days now, and I can feel calluses forming on my hands. A quick perusal of the forums reveals that some people like having them, but I think I'd rather not if I can avoid it. Is there any way to prevent calluses from forming, like using gloves or lotion, or (gasp) a chan...

Back after 2 years
After picking up No S two years ago, I thought I'd try my hand at shugging. I got an 8-lb. hammer (I'm pretty weak), overexerted myself, and stayed away for two years. I'm in college now, and something has called me back: could it be that I'm jealous of how fit my roommate is, or that I want to feel...

Losing weight forever?
Recently I've lost so much weight on the No S Diet (about 20 lbs. in 4 months) that my family is worried about me. When I mentioned that I'm still losing weight, they got even worse. I pointed out that I'm no longer losing 6-7 pounds like in the first two months, but only about 1 pound per month. Th...

Thoughts after 21 days
Well, I've been No-S-ing for at least 21 days, depending on when I consider to have started. In my last thread it was recommended that I find an alternative to Frosted Flakes. Yesterday I accompanied my mom to the grocery store to find one. It is hard. There are so many cereals with sugar in them, i...

Actually, I can't understand how a small snack would be justified by No S. I avoided my afternoon snack today, but I eventually started dying and had a slice of apple, which helped enough. I'm used to eating so much that "no seconds" and "no snacks" don't cooperate with each other. I need to have on...

Welcome back, Jordonk. Funny that you all should call me Jordonk. My first name is Jordon and my last initial is K. I used "jordonk" as my first e-mail address (and subsequently for other online uses), so a friend of mine would address me as "Jor-donk" in conversation. The afternoon meal the others...

Reasons for quitting
Hi everyone. I just started my second try on the No S Diet yesterday. A few months ago I had started it and kept on it for a few weeks (I think). Two things made me fall out of it: First, the meals seemed too few and far between. I'm a "growing boy" (16 years old) and so I guess I eat a lot. Since I...
