Changing old behaviors.

For me, I try to remind myself that it is not so much about success or failure as it is changing the bad habits I have developed especially bingeing. I try to remind myself that I am making progress if I have a day where though I may have technically failed I did not revert to bad behaviors.

Thank you

Thank you so much for your response. I feel better already. I think you are right about the whole diet/binge thing and instinctively I know that you are right. I need to be patient and let myself undo the years of damage that dieting and bingeing have wrought. Thanks again for taking the time to res...

Discouraged

I am feeling discouraged. Although I have been sticking to the noS diet pretty well--no failures for this month and just two extra S days (4th of July and my 20th wedding anniversary,) I am just feeling like it is not going to work. I started the no s diet in June, but had shoulder surgery on the 9t...

Success, success, success

Count yesterday as a success. Weekend seems to be getting better as well. Less intense and less desperate over eating.

Success, success, success

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all SUCCESS days. Moreover, I am beginning to make better, healthier choices without feeling deprived. Yesterday I had a bagel w/ cream cheese for breakfast, grilled chicken w/ pepper and onion for lunch and A grilled chicken salad for dinner (did have two small dinne...

Success

Weekend of S days a bit heavier than I would like, but I am already noticing a decreased desire and an increased awareness of the negative physical effects of overeating. Monday a SUCCESS!

Back on track

Count yesterday as a SUCCESS. (I can't make the letters green for some reason, anyone know why?) Anyway today is an S day, but I am not feeling like I need to binge b/c of it. I just had a bowl of cereal--one bowl was sufficient. Imagine that! Also, I noticed that I have had one F day per week and t...

What was it like when you started?

Reviewing my progress so far:

First week: Perfect
Second Week: Perfect
Third Week: Surgery: Didn't participate in NoS
Fourth Week: One Failure
Fifth Week: One Failure

Not sure how typical my progress is. I'd love to hear from others about there beginning stages!

Failure--Dang!

Count yesterday as a Failure--Dang! I am struggling with inactivity due to recent surgery, along with pain, boredom and anxiety--not major diagnosable stuff just the stuff that makes me want to seek out comfort foods. I do fine all day, but struggle terribly in those long evening hours since I can't...

Until I started the NoS diet, I didn't know. . .

just how much emotional eating I was doing. I never really thought of myself as an emotional eater, but now I can see all the times when I am not really hungry, but am seeking comfort. Interesting stuff! Anyone else learned things about themselves from no S'ing? I loved to hear your experiences.

Thank You

Thank you for your response Jilybean! I especially liked the quote about eating not being the solution and you are so right: habits CAN be broken! Thanks again, for taking the time to post!

Tough Day Yesterday

Count yesterday as a hard one SUCCESS!! I really struggled not to snack last night. I was up with shoulder pain and waiting for my teenage daughters to get home. The combination of anxiety and pain brought on the desire to eat for comfort, but I was able to fend it off! Yay!

Thanks Moxie

Thank you so much for this response. It really rang true with me. Prior to surgery when I had been on the NoS diet I was already having the same kind of experiences you describe here. I think the surgery set me back a bit b/c 1) I wasn't able to exercise as much and 2) to be honest, I felt a little ...

Having Trouble Having Faith

I started no S'ing at the end of May. Beginning of June I had my shoulder operated on so for one week I did not follow any plan at all. Re-started noS on Monday June 16th. I LOVE this plan! It makes perfect sense to me to eat like a normal person and the mental relief is FABULOUS! I only have one pr...

Count yesterday as a [SUCCESS!color=green][/color] Yay! And I enjoyed every meal, didn't feel hungry in between, wasn't tempted to snack! I love this! Now, I just hope it helps me take off some weight. In any case, I so believe in this concept. Just the mental relief is worth the ride. This is one o...

New Start. I started NoS three weeks ago. Did great for two weeks then had surgery on my rotator cuff on June 9th. Used the next week as S days--S for Surgery-HA! Seriously, could not fend for myself very well, plus feeling yucky and using snacks to fend off nausea. Pain is bearable now so I am back...
