I submitted part of my "rambling thoughts post" that I wrote a few weeks ago to the oprah link posted above. I don't prefer Oprah personally, but when I read the article in our paper yesterday, I immediately had the same thought many of you did. She needs No-S Though I'm sure Mr. Bob Greene would be...

Thanks for making me feel not so crazy! I agree with everything you said. I have a passion for a big Italian sub, but wouldn't think of pairing it with soup. I don't even have chips with it anymore. Yesterday, one of my kids was a little tummy sick, so we had chicken noodle soup. In my pre No-S days...

Soup & Sandwich
I'll give the disclaimer up front that this is just a random, rambling question. I tend to think out loud, and this forum serves the purpose quite nicely. Regarding soup and sandwichas a meal, I'm thinking that if it's a big ol' deli sandwich, it should be a meal on it's own; no bowl of soup needed....

Blue, I know how you feel. Sometimes, I'm just not *that* hungry at breakfast. One thing that works for me on those days is cafe au lait. I use a small amount of really strong coffee added to about a cup of hot, whole milk. It makes a big ol' mug full, and is quite filling. I could easily eat only t...

I totally agree with this post. I have been surprised to find that what this diet has done the MOST for me is to help me relearn the feelings of hungry and full. This weekend was my first S weekend. I snacked constantly. By Sunday night bedtime, I felt literally nauseous. And the food I ate at mealt...

Thanks, KCCC. Right now, I'm keeping it, as it's a safeguard for me against night-time binges, which used to be a major problem for me. Where I used to grab a handful of M&M's, which led to at least two or three MORE handfuls, then a bag of chips to offset the sweet... that little piece of dark choc...

Hmm...some interesting points. I'll think on it a bit. For what it's worth, I don't get the 60% b/c it's supposedly healthy, it's just what I prefer. Same with tiny bites and making it last. I do that because it's how it's best. Why bother with a piece of really good chocolate if just scarfing it do...

Can I apply a Glass Ceiling rule to this?
Um, er, ah...I guess it would actually be a 60% Cocoa ceiling. See, 90% of my temptation comes at night, when the kids go to bed and hubby and I sit down for my nightly fix of NCIS. It's always been the time of day I feel like snacking. When I finally decided I needed to control this, I started buyi...

LA, I know. What I could do with the TIME I spent devouring books, articles and studies... Yes, we'll chalk it up to progress. At the very least, I truly learned to research a topic to exhaustion! And I'm no longer in TX. I lived there a few short years then moved back home to the deep South. Still,...

Rambling First Impressions
Up until about 12 years ago, I was a naturally fit person, muscular, in a cute, size 6 kind of way. I first gained weight - about 30 pounds - when I moved to TX, started sitting in front of a computer all day, and making Taco Bell a food group all it's own. I managed to lose that weight with ...

Hi Debs! I can (and sometimes do) walk in my backyard, but it's boring as all get out! I hate walking without going somewhere, you know? That's why I no longer own a treadmill! Maybe I'll just make it a point to get out once a day for however long, then just keep doing my intervals. Thanks for reply...

Thanks, Debs! I did my first real workout this morning without the videos, and I only got through about 12 minutes before I had to stop! I did do several sets of squats while holding the SG, then at the top of the squat, I lifted it up like in tuck bale. I think tomorrow I'll do more squats to give ...

Where do the Country Bumpkins Walk?
I'm describing myself, here. We live on basically 20 acres of pasture. That's in the back. In the front, it's the highway. The fact that there's "nowhere" to walk has been a bone of contention with me the whole time we've lived here. I suppose I could load up the four kids (ages 1-8 ) and trek acros...

Newbie Question
Ok, I've spent the majority of the day reading the No-S book and browsing the bulletin boards. Having done so, I totally skipped my usual weight training routine. Feeling the obligatory guilt, I decided I must do SOMETHING, so I decided to make myself a shovelglove. I have to admit that I giggled th...
