Hey Deb I use a Jack Lalanne power juicer. If anybody knows how to stay fit, its that guy! His juicer is one of the best, IMO, because it has a wide mouth. You can fit almost an entire apple or piece of fruit into it at once instead of having to chop everything into itty bitty pieces. Saves a lot of...

Shoveling urban ranger gloves
Today I tried something a little different; I took my sledgehammer with me on a two-mile run/walk through the park. I made quite the sight, I'm sure, considering that not only was I carrying a 10-lb. sledgehammer at port arms, but I was wearing combat boots and a 20-lb, bright blue weight vest. The ...

Hey, amused is better than offended. Samurai, you make a great point (with some very helpful examples). It's true that the shovelglove mentality can be applied pretty well to conventional exercise equipment (or even furniture, in a pinch). It's always a fun challenge when I'm traveling to come up w...

It does sound strikingly familiar: "Following the 5 lifestyle rules in Mastering Leptin will significantly make healthy weight loss easier. These rules include eating 3 meals a day with no snacking, no eating after dinner, and eating a high protein breakfast." They give you 4 out of the five "lifes...

Boring dumbbells..
were you referring to the muscle-bound gardner or the heavy metallic items used to build muscle? Reinhard has taken the sledgehammer from obscurity in the back of the garage and turned it into a premier, exotic, fitness tool. The same can be done with dumbbells, with a little imagination. I s...

Leptins v No S
If you'd prefer to pay for diet advice rather then absorb it for free from the Everyday Systems bulletin board, take a look at the following link: http://www.wellnessresources.com/protocols/leptin_diet.htm Looks like there is a scientific reason why eating three meals a day, without snacks, should b...

I always park out at the end of the parking lot, close to the last car in line or a little farther. I began this habit not out for fitness but for lack of patience. I can't stand driving around the parking lot for 15 minutes waiting for someone to leave a spot right next to the door. I reasoned that...

Re: Maple syrup
Go for the maple syrup... your breakfast already sounds much more reasonable than mine was... a strawberry smoothie, donut, and some chocolate-covered mints. I probably take S days to more of an extreme than anyone here, and I'm still doing pretty well with this whole thing. Granted, not as well as...

Deb, I like the idea of the SG, but I already had the KBs. Besides, I'm pretty sure that they train the same energy systems & produce a similar effect. If you like SG, you may also like this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1569754780/ref=wl_it_dp/102-1323879-7506532?%5Fencoding=UTF8&...

Thanks for the reply and compliment, Reinhard. Yes, I took a few minutes to compose my fair tale after reading Deb's suggestion that you were Shogun. I went through the top diet guru's I could think of off the top of my head and listed them. I was wondering if anyone got the New Tree Ents of the For...

Re: Fill'er up please...
Hey, if you are the Samurai, then Reinhard must be the Shogun! I like it, I like it! "He is Shogun of the Noe Ess Clan, Warlord of Shovelglove, and Walker of the Banned Lands of Ur." - titulary introduction of His Royal Highness, Reinhard the Able, at the last Council of Waightloz. Others in attend...

Filling up
Its funny, you know... once you get used to eating smaller portions, how much faster those smaller portions fill you up. I remember when I'd eat a Chili's peppercorn burger, full order of fries, a couple of glasses of iced tea for lunch, followed by a 20 oz. soda to help with the 'digestion' of this...

Catwolf, I love both of the scenarios! I'm going to turn myself into a vampire slayer during tomorrow's session! Awesome! Reinhard, are the Yahoo archives still available for the scenarios that I came up with, preparing the defenses and manning the walls? I haven't used those in a while so I might b...

Hello All One nifty trick that can net you a couple hundred dollars a year is to piggy bank all your loose change. We have an automated coin-rolling bank that we drop all the loose change from our pockets in when we arrive home each day. The most I've heard of saving in one year, and this from the g...
