Wow!

Wow! What a lot of wisdom. You lot really blow me away. I logged on because I had just been sitting in an hour-long meeting staring at a plate of really delicious-looking chocolate biscuits. But I was empowered by the simplicity of the NoS rules not to take one (which would have led to another and a...

Thanks again..

...for all your support. Both ideas sound practical and helpful. Determination, practice and habit -- as you say -- more than likely to do the trick. I'll let you know how I manage next set piece dinner (not for a couple of weeks now). Urban rangering for the sweet treat is also a great plan. Onward...

Talking of strategies...

Does anyone have any ideas for the best way to handle business meals. I have to attend few of these silver service do's (two in the 10 days since I started NoS) where courses are simply put in front of you unasked. At the last one I meant to say no to the dessert but was busy chatting to my neighbou...

Like you warned, this is not so easy to start with. Day four, my first at home not at work, I am finding it very hard not to wander into the kitchen, eat an apple (or worse) etc etc. I'm obsessing about it right now, which is why I thought I might distract msyelf by boring you lot with my struggle. ...

Here's an idea

Why not park further from home rather than from where you work. That way you won't be able to miss out the walk if you're running late as you will still have to get to your car. And in the evenings you maybe won't be under the same sort of time pressure and can enjoy the walk more. I used to put mys...

Hmm, yes. I've always thought that starving through the best years just to end up eating slops in an old folks' home can't be worth the candle. And apparently even medical doctors often don't fully understand (or read enough detail to understand) scientific studies and what can be extrapolated from ...

Thanks all. Really helpful. I realised there were a lot of calories in fruit juices so wasn't sure where they fitted in. I will definitely look out for juice not drink, as advised, and will keep it down to one glass with my lunch. That way it looks like I won't simply be kidding myself I'm following...

What about fruit juice?

Does fruit juice count as an S (just one glass of orange or pineapple with lunch, say)? Thanks for the website, by the way. I found it today. I feel hope at last that there is an approach that might work if I work it. I've started immediately. Hoping not to have to go for the full 12 failures but in...
