Thank you all. I am bolstered by your experience and wisdom. I, too, have 40+ years of weight gain and weight loss and general obsession with food in my past. I wish I'd read No-S when I was 20; I'm convinced I'd be healthier and about 50 lbs lighter than I am now! And I would have spent way less me...

Thank you so much for sharing your success story! I just started No-S on January 1st and I'm still dealing with the fear factor - this just seems too good to be true! Just today I was wishing someone with a year or two under her (or his!) belt (pun intended!) would post a perspective that included a...

13.5 hours at work. Need I say more? First day of semester II, and those letters of recommendation and common applications are killing me! But I stayed no-s all day! Yay for me! That in the face of Dove chocolate and a candy bar left on my desk by a kind administrator. Tomorrow is and S day, of cour...

I just read a couple of really good threads. One was about nutrition and no s and the other was a writer who had followed no s for about a year. His/her weight stalled, and then went up a pound or two. Fear and frustration set in and the dieter tried a quick loss fad diet. The end result was more we...

I didn't post yesterday - tired and busy. Yesterday was an S day, and today has been (so far) as well. But I've been hungry. I know I'm eating enough, so I think I've just got to learn to live with the hunger and continue to remind myself that it's not bad - it's anticipation! I got on the scale thi...

Becky's Daily Check-in

It's time to give this a try. I started no-S on Jan. 1, 2011, and I think I've had more successes than failures. The fact that I just typed "I think" is the reason I've started this thread. Today I did well all day with little effort - even when my husband and I stopped at one of the best cafes on t...

Ok, now I'm hungry for fries again. This time I'll make them myself, though.

By the way, I make oven fries with sweet potatoes (or yams - whichever is on sale) quite often. Very yummy!

Once again, I'm so glad I posted. Your words of encouragment and wisdom are just what I needed.

I love the one=done mantra! I just finished reading the book, but I think I need to read it again and pull out some of the pearls.

Thanks again.

Ate a pile of French fries - what was I thinking???

I went to Red Robin tonight and ordered my customary (and delish!) grilled chicken "burger." It usually comes with a reasonable serving of fries on the plate, which I figure I can eat on occasion and truly enjoy. Tonight, however, they forgot to put the fries on the plate, so the server brought me a...

Thank you all for your good ideas. They all have merit and I think I'll give several a try. I just finished reading the No-S book - which was wonderful, I might add - and his admonition to not overthink the rules is in the back of my head. Old habits are hard to break, though. I've weighed food and ...

salad question

I'm fairly new to No S and this wonderful board, so forgive me if this is a question that as been asked and answered a hundred times already, but... I love salad and make a bowl (cereal size) full (usually Romaine lettuce, avocado, cucumber, green onion - and sometimes fruit) each night at dinner. I...

"Last bite panic" is a good way to describe it! I've been doing no-s for about three weeks and I'll admit to feeling that way at the end of nearly every meal. Part of the reason is that I'm finally eating what I want (which turns out is surprisingly healthy) and truly enjoying my meals for the first...

Watched Food, Inc. last night - Yikes!

Sobering, disgusting, scary. Now I need to find a place to buy grass fed, organic beef and free range chicken. It's a bit of a challenge since I live in a small town on an island in Puget Sound. If I'm going to eat only 3 meals a day and no snacks, I want those three meals to quality, nutritionally ...

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Just knowing I have the freedom to make this work for me (while still working toward vanilla S as a goal) is helpful. 45 years of obsessive adhearing to diets and then always blowing it has truly let to an unhealthy relationship with food. I don't trust myself ...

Question about S days

Has anyone t tried doing S days from Friday evening (dinner) through Sunday afternoon. Basically, sundown Friday to sundown Sunday. I don't want to tweak things too much, too soon (I'm just two weeks into no s), but often Friday evening is when we go out - or I'm just so pooped from a week's work th...

Two weeks on nos and a bit worried

No snacks, no sweets, no seconds - where I was pretty cautious - but no weight lost. Am I doing this right? It's so wonderfully easy; it seems almost to easy.

Newbie here

I started No-S on 1/1/11, after buying The Book for my new Kindle just after Christmas. I lost 40 lbs on Weight Watchers about 3 years ago and kept all but 10 lbs of it off. But I am well and truly sick of counting! I've been looking for a simple way to lose that provides some structure to my eating...
