Hi Ironchef,

You're doing so well! I admire that you removed casein from your diet. I would find that very hard.

While I wasn't looking at the boards I really missed your comments - they were always insightful and inspiring.

Keep up the good work!

It can mean that. However, I'd like to think of it as saying that it staves off the " deadening effect of a habit", so N days can be a life-enhancing habit. :D I know that may be tweaking it but as I don't believe that all habits are deadening but that some aspects of some habits can be deadening it...

Just read this and loved it. It's so No-S:
"Excess on occasion is exhilarating. It prevents moderation from acquiring the deadening effect of a habit."
W. Somerset Maugham

(It's unchecked. No idea if the quote is correct)

Hi grothkat, Welcome! :D I don't think there's anything wrong with drinks in between meals. Somewhere Reinhard said that sugar in your coffee isn't a big deal at the beginning as you should focus on all the other, bigger culprits first. As long as you don't go and start putting spoonfuls of sugar in...

Thanks Ironchef! I immediately read it and I'm completely in Phase I. Just very impatient. My mum is visiting this week and I just would have liked to be all thin already. As I write this I have to laugh though. No-S is so much more than that. 8)

Emotional eating all weekend. Haven't broken any NoS rules but only because on weekends there are no rules. I wil consider it a relief to be back to normal again tomorrow.... Same thing for me at the weekend, although it was more procrastination and the resulting boredom than an actual emotion. Any...

Amy, Ironchef: Thanks so much for your comments! Success - It was a good week. But the temptation of this amazing chocolate in the cupboard... Just one more long, good sleep and it's S day - YEAH! I have to say that this diet gives every weekend a holiday feeling and I feel like a 5 year old anticip...

I'm tempted a lot at work as my co-workers keep pushing cakes and sweets under my nose (they are slowly learning not to offer) but lately I had friends bring back great chocolates from their vacation too. I resisted and have them at home now, waiting for an S day the way a kid waits for Christmas. H...

Success. Heavily tempted by chocolates my friend brought me but I decided to save them for the S day round the corner. Struggling through and using my magic weapon: herbal tea.

Today was a Success ! I had a half-day off and everything was so perfect it felt like a real celebration. I was tempted to call it an S day - and didn't. I realised that this celebratory feeling is there whether or not I eat. Enjoyed the day fully and feel even better now for sticking to my Vanilla ...

The thing I like about the NoS diet is that nothing is much yet every "not much" is a solid win and we should celebrate it (foodlessly, obviously). Especially, if it's in the midst of stressful moments. So: Well Done! I think it's a LOT :D

Yes, it's astounding to see what goes on around me in terms of snacks and sweets. Seconds don't seem to be much of a problem but then perm-snacking eliminates the need for seconds. Also, I figured out that part of the righteousness is jealousy. Today I had to pass up on the 3rd birthday cake opportu...

Today: Another Success . What I now have to watch out for is righteousness. In my office we have gained weight together, all slowly getting bigger and bigger in the one year I've been there. I guess it was a "it's ok to overeat and be overweight" group dynamic. Now, the others still eat and I'm just...

Hi Amy,

look who's talking: you're the one who does brilliantly :D

I totally get where you coming from when you say that other diets got old after about 3 weeks. What I also love about No-S is to think of it in 21 day stretches. Makes it easier to get a new start and aim for that 21 Club.

Cheers

I feel the same about N-days too! Yet, I think it's great to have S-days, even if it's just to keep the deprivation-mindset at bay and to remind myself how awful too much sugar feels :D
