Re: Elizabeth's Accountability Page
Thorough answer Auto. Thank you for answering! As for me, I bought the inexpensive "Reli On" monitor from Wally World. And I can buy a box of 100 strips for right at $18. I think I paid $9 for the monitor, itself. On a side note, I have screwed up my day already...went into binge mode and gggrrrrr.....

Re: Elizabeth's Accountability Page
I also keep a check on my BG levels for the same reason. My husband is full-blown Type II and I do not want to get to that point. I'm trying to watch the carbs, without being too restrictive, as restriction leads to binges for me. I am going to try my best to start eating more sensibly. I really enj...

What is your favorite beverage between meals when you're feeling a little hungry?
I read somewhere to add a Tbsp. of heavy cream to your favorite soft drink to make a "float" when you're feeling hungry between meals. The fat in the cream will help you stay full. This sounded horrid to me, but I love diet Dr. Pepper and tried it...and loved it! What's your favorite go-to beverage ...

Hi Automated! Thanks for stopping by! I've decided to change things and skip the sweet/snack on N days. I did have a single serving of ice cream yesterday, but found I really didn't need it. Also, I checked my blood glucose this morning and was at 108, so I really shouldn't have sweets once a day, e...

It's been a couple years since I've been here. I'm back because I need some sort of structure, otherwise I'm bingeing and completely out of control. I am reading a book called Brain Over Binge, but I'm still completely out of control, therefore, the structure. Here is my plan: I'm not following vani...

I had a great day yesterday, in that I didn't snack between meals. But I was in a rather sweet and snacky mood. I'm almost embarrassed by my food choices, but it is what it is. I'm going to start posting my food publicly. Maybe that will convince me to start incorporating those vegetables I keep pla...

Re: Allison's Springtime check-in
****DINNER AT LEAST 4 HOURS AFTER LUNCH***** Allisonmeg, You're doing great with your eating, I think! I'm trying to get brave enough to post my foods. Maybe I'll get the courage up soon. Your plan and mine are the same; waiting 4 hours between meals. I try to wait longer, but that's my minimum wai...

Hahaha I know what you mean Noni! I don't know how it felt to my mom and uncle to have a brother and sister so young. But in my case, my aunt was my sister's age (two years older than myself) and her brother four years older than me. I considered them more cousins than aunt and uncle. :) As for the ...

Elizabeth, how do you get the quote to be in a "box"? Thank you Noni, I was amazed I could do it at all one handed so soon. I haven't done shovelglove yet this morning, but will update afterward how it goes. Thank you for the tip on using both arms. I think it helped strengthen those muscles to hel...

While I went on an all out snackfest yesterday, it's now a new day and I awoke with an attitude of sticktoitiveness this morning. I didn't do the shovelglove yesterday, either. But I'm getting back to that this morning, as well. I don't have set mealtimes. I have my first meal of the day when I feel...

Kaalii, I think you described me there. ;-) But you're right, there are a lot more overweight compared to when I was growing up. And looking back at my Mom's and Dad's old high school yearbooks, there were even fewer overweight people pictured. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that processed f...

Thank you for sharing your experiences while there, TexArk. Very interesting! I thoroughly enjoyed your post. It would have been nice to have had that kind of life growing up. I hate for the French that things are changing more to our way of living. We can see where that's gotten us, food wise, espe...

Thank you for your review eam. I agree that the leek soup sounds like a crash diet and I will definitely not be paying that any attention! And as for the yogurt, I'm not a huge fan, so I'm going to ignore that part, too. I'll most likely take your advice. And I do enjoy what I eat! That's been a pro...

I did read some reviews that said the author of "French Women Don't Get Fat" seemed quite condescending toward Americans. Others disagreed. I hope I'll be in the latter category, or that book will probably annoy me to the point of not finishing it. I will have to look up the two authors you mentione...

WTG on the candy, only having a small square. You're a determined lady! Coconut Custard! My husband would kiss the ground you walk on! Sounds pretty good to me, too! I meant to reply earlier about your having a son in high school. My grandparents had two children after they married and two more twen...

Good Morning Noni, Hahaha about the BMI. Just when you think you're there! lol You're so right about the salad. I've never been one much for salad, but try to eat one now and then. I hate waste. We made one salad from a fresh head of lettuce a few days ago. I chopped it with a produce (plastic) knif...
