No chicken but a large hamburger. And appetizers, bread and a salad. The rest of the weekend was tame-ish, though I wouldn't call it tame. Today is back to normal. Even though it's Halloween, I'm not having any sweets today. Way too many S days/events in the next two months. Exercise is also back on...

I dunno. I had the Boston Cream Pie fail last Thursday and a rich weekend - cheesecake, ice cream, M&Ms, a bake sale treat at church. We are having meatloaf and roasted veggies tonight. Maybe I'll have a beer instead of a sweet. Beer is less of trigger for me than sweets, much less likely to indulge.

I'm working on keeping this S day tame. I had a biscotti at the coffee shop with DH after going to the Y. Other than that, everything else has been normal. Tonight we will be going out for dinner. I'm not enthused, partly because I don't feel well, partly because the menu tends to be quite heavy. Si...

Another Reason as to Why You Shouldn't Give Up on No S

An article published in yesterday's NEJM purported to show why weight loss was so hard to maintain. Personally, I think the findings should have been refined to why weight loss from a crash diet is so hard to maintain. My main quibble with this study is how they had participants lose weight. Partici...

Yesterday I got pretty hungry at dinner time probably because I didn't eat much at the noon meal. I ate the cereal and banana I had designated for breakfast the next day's breakfast in addition to the dahl burrito and salad I had. Plus a protein drink. Exercise was marching/jogging in front of the T...

I had dinner (or the noon meal) at the Hutterite colony again today. They serve the oddest food sometimes. Today's oddity was a pastry wrapped stuffing that you cut up and poured broth on. It was pretty good. I am wondering about the appropriateness of asking for recipes. I had a bit o' chicken, a b...

Good idea. Diets are like children. Your own are far more interesting to you than they are to anyone else even if they feign polite interest.

I've dropped about 10lbs and a few people have noticed. No one, however, has asked me how I did it.

People really don't want to talk about dieting.

No S is unique in that many people start the diet in the maintenance phase. Once they get the habits down, then they tweak till they start seeing weight loss. I was on the three year plan, apparently, in that I did No S on and off for about three years. I didn't gain weight but didn't lose either (d...

Yes, I should have said chain restaurants. You might have to visit around to find a place that prepares most of their food from scratch/with minimally processed ingredients.

The day went as planned, except that I nibbled the crust on the potpie, a technical second. Crust nibbling seems to be a recurring problem. I love crust. I really, really do.

I think (again) that I will make a pie this weekend. Apple pie.

Well done!

Restaurant food has tons of hidden sugars and fat, not to mention sodium which makes one puffy and is rough on the blood pressure.

You are doing yourself a huge health favor by eating more at home with homecooked food and not just for weigh loss purposes.
