I do think that this is an excellent thing. I'm not in favor of being miserable and starving oneself long-term, but I the idea that we're never EVER supposed to endure being mildly hungry is really a bit absurd and well... kinda first world privileged when you think about it. Fasting between meals (...

I'm strict. So much so that in the beginning I made a pact with myself to tolerate hunger even if it were uncomfortable between meals. Why? Because I'm weak-willed and incredibly good at fooling myself. That just made it easier and I'm kind of lazy. I'm not saying it works for everyone, mind. But it...

As far as traditional "American", I'd say my mother's typical summer dinner of sliced tomatoes, summer squash, butterbeans, corn on the cob, and cucumbers in vinegar (yes, I know cukes are Olde Worlde) would be about as American as you can get.

S-day

My son made pulled pork sandwiches for us for dinner, and we had chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I enjoyed it immensely.

Though I do need to teach the boy how to do a proper North Carolina style barbecue.

I sympathize with your struggles, talia.

I think that going ahead and developing the habit of being able to take S days EVERY weekend might solidify your N-days. The primitive parts of your brain will learn to trust that you're never more than five days away from a snack, second or treat.

I do not have explicit rules for S-days. I do try to adhere to some guidelines, though if I don't, it's not a failure and I'm damned if I'll breast beat about it. Food Prices

I don't know if many of you find a reduction in your grocery bill when you start eating No-S. I did, and I'd always been pretty frugal in terms of groceries.

As food prices are rising, I'm finding myself grateful that I've gotten used to only eating at meals and keeping portions relatively small.

I have one about the coordination, Reinhard, but I don't know how adaptable it is to a system.

Choose a sport or activity that is HIGHLY technical (Swimming, dance, martial arts, tai-chi, yoga).

I note that ballet tends to yield extraordinarily good results, even with adults.
