How do they measure your body fat at the gym? And, what is a pretty accurate way to measure body fat percentages aside from submerging one's self in water?

Focus on how you FEEL after doing NoS for a little while.

To me, feeling lighter and not bloated is worth it.

It took me about 6 months to lose 10 pounds, but I wasn't very overweight. I know it sounds cheesy, but "slow and steady" does win the race.

Florafloraflora (I love your name!) It can be a bit weird to be out of your comfort zone when you are traveling and at the mercy of other people's schedules. My advice to you is to remember that it is Saturday and tommorrow is Sunday. You are already absolved of any screw ups! These days are a Free ...

Hi Atc. I think that Mimi's advice is right on target. I did not have a night eating problem...my mindless eating happened during the afternoon . (Kids get home, they get a snack, Oprah is on....I was a big TV muncher). Well, the other suggestion that I can think of is to try going places at night. ...

Regarding muscles and weight: I heard Bob Greene on one of his recent XM radio shows say that muscles can hold up to 8 pounds of water in the first few months of regular exercise! That is a huge amount. Having said that, it is also important to drink a lot of water when you are exercising. Bee, I ha...

Hey Preach!!! Glad you are here. It seems like a lot of us here tend to pile up the plates in the begining. Try not to feel guilty about it. If anything, its better to eat a little more in the beginning so your body can get used to going a couple of hours without food. (I eat three meals a day, but ...

Keep up the great job you are doing No-Essing.

Hi Mandy.....10 MILES!!!! Wow. That's amazing. How long did it take you? I finally forced myself to run 3 miles on Friday. It only took an extra 4 minutes.

I am impress with your efforts. Yoga is a good counter workout to running, isnt' it?

Have a great week!!!

I do something similar with my steel cut oats (since they take 30 minutes to cook): prepare 4 to 8 servings and keep the extra in the fridge. They reheat fine.

Thanks for the advice Billy. The funny thing is that we were on a calm, flat, windless lake! I think we both leaned to one direction to avoid hitting a bridge trestle and so we just went over. Luckily, we were near the side of the lake because I have no idea how I would have got back on that kayak. ...

Day 4 Success!!!!! Hey Mandy: I am running 3 days per week for 30 minutes (not including warming up and cooling down: about 42 minutes total) I have been doing this for about a month, having built up to it over about 9 weeks, thanks to a podcast. (Couch to 5K) I am not a fast runner. I only run at ...

Hi Karin. You don't have to apologize! I think its great that you have voiced your struggles. For what it's worth, traveling always makes my eating habits risky. (Getting up early, lousy plane food, mini bars, etc.) Just try to be kind to yourself. As a former WW, I found it a lot easier to keep a f...

Hi Karina. I'm sorry that you are having self-doubts. I think I had them too, in the beginning. I was afraid to trust myself. The rules almost seemed too easy. But the only thing you can do is just try it. The first month or so is a little challenging because your body and mind are used to certain t...
