For many of us, the S days are the problem. I did good on Saturday and not so good on Sunday. Result was, had lost a pound and a half on Friday and Monday morning it was back. We will change our mindset if we try. It is the only hurdle we have left to leap over.

Why do we love the foods that make us feel awful? I do the same thing. We had fish last night with sweet potatoes and broccoli. I felt great after eating it and satisfied. The night before we had a cheesy lasagna thing and it was delicious until the heartburn, heavy feeling and blahs set in. By our ...

Pedometers are not really too accurate. I used to use one all day to see how close I came to 10000 steps. Sometimes, I would count the steps I took to go downstairs and deliver papers or something. I would check the steps before and after. It was rarely really close. I don't remember the name but I ...

I hear you on the eating to TV thing especially. My husband and I got in the habit many years ago. After a hard day at work, it was so nice to sit in a comfortable chair and watch a little mindless TV and eat. I still like it but many seem to think it would be better to just mindfully eat. I too wil...

I don't know if you ever watch Biggest Loser but weight loss is such a strange thing. Sometimes people on those shows try their darnest, do everything right and eat perfect meals all week and then get on the scale to find they have lost nothing or maybe just a pound. They beat themselves up and then...

Hi Deb and thanks for saying hi on my post. I remember you well and what an inspiration you were to all of us newbies back then. How have you been the last couple of years? Lovely picture of the 2 of you.

Only had one MRI and I agree it is not a pleasant experience. Thanks heavens they have them though as they help diagnose so many things. I was getting panicky toward the end of mine and the person giving it to me kept asking if I was doing OK. I asked her to stop announcing how long I had to go beca...

Just went to my site and read your ideas regarding the hummus. I jotted them down because they are very helpful. We are at the marketing idea phase of setting up the business and I never thought of kids lunches or grab a lunch as a possible target group.
Thanks.

Yesterday was a success. Some unexpected drama with my daughter but I decided it had nothing to do with what I ate and stayed vanilla all day. Made the day a lot better at the end of it. Eating a lot of junk would have only made the day worse. I liked my decision to leave food out of the equation. I...

You inspired us all again, Grammy. I loved the "good enough" story and I swear I will use it on our next crazy company day. I want to see the company and they want to see me. The house, table, dinner etc. is not the issue. Thanks for sharing the yoga thoughts.

The last time I was here, I lost 8 pounds slowly and had a few failures. Instead of hanging tough and staying with a program that worked with my lifestyle, I started to play around with it. Before I knew it, weight loss was stagnant and I had changed the program so much it was unrecognizable. I left...

Speaking as a bread maker myself, that is quite an accomplishment what with the smell wafting through the house and all. Congratulations. I will have to try that soon if I want to stay vanilla no S.

Day 4 failure

Today was not so much a failure as a crazy day where regular meals were not possible. We tried to do too much in one day and got stretched out past supper time. We ate a quick burger between lunch and supper because we have to be to a meeting that would take us way past supper. Then when we got home...

Hope you are better soon

That cold really has been hanging on a long time. Something like that can take all the zip out of you. Maybe you should be drinking some of that lemon with honey. I love marmalades and everytime I read one of your posts, I want some. I will have to try it sometime but here in the cold northwest, lem...

Thanks for the support

How wonderful it was to read all of your kind words and excellent advise. I intend to follow it all. It already feels so much better to have expressed it all. It makes it seem more finite somehow. All things have a beginning middle and end and thus nothing good or bad lasts forever. And yes, I think...

You are an inspiration to keep motivated and positive. I just read through your posts and admire your tenacity. You are in the right place, I think. It will just take time. welcome to another retiree

Hi Grammy, I too was here before and have returned. Retirement is lovely and I thought dieting would be a breeze after I was retired and wouldn't be facing constant treats at work and going out to lunch. Wrong. We have a lot of retired friends who now want to go out off and on all week long! Wonderf...

Wow! I am amazed at your posts. We try to eat organic and we also try to eat vegetarian a couple of times a week. I can never think what vegetarian things to make and when I read recipes on line, it always sounds like I would be starving if that was all I ate. I got lots of ideas from reading your p...

Pangelsue's check in (back to try again)

I was here successfully about 4 or 5 years ago. I needed to lose about 40 pounds at that time. I loved the diet and was a member of the 21 day club. I thought I had changed my eating habits forever. I hadn't. After I reached the 21 day mark, I had lost 8 pounds and was happy with my progress. Then f...
