I don't know, I tend not to freak out too much about cholesterol. I think it's one of those things that is associated with things that matter, without being a very good measure in itself. I don't mean you should be cavalier about triglycerides of 400, but I would not change an otherwise healthy and ...

Woke up not hungry. Decided to take bf to work. Which is less than relaxing, as I have to munch while trying to work. Not sure what to do about that. 7/ juice and seltzer 9/ yogurt, granola, chopped apple 12:15/butter chicken, rice, pourri, diet soda (craving sweet) 4/cocoa 6/pancake and a half, ome...

Rawcookie, I'm like you. I don't think of myself as a binge eater. I've had weight issues all of my adult life but after early stints with dieting, I've spent the last 20 years more focused on lifestyle solutions, having made up my mind from extensive reading that harsh restriction is not the greate...

Linda, all encouragement welcome! DD has been in preprofessional ballet for years, got a serious injury outside of ballet, and has not been able to work at anywhere near the same level. I figured she and major ballet were going to part at some point. But this was a hard way to have it happen. She do...

Oolala: Interesting stuff. I'll look for more reading on the subject. I meant to say earlier, but was typing on my phone: I am sorry you have afternoon discontentment! I hope it is no more than is normal-human stuff. I just read Maude, a fictionalized biography of the author's grandmother born in 18...

Linda, I am picturing the fat horse and the short legs and getting a giggle out of that. We ended up hiring a friend to do some ballet driving for me. My DH has a visual impairment that prevents driving (come on, self driving cars!) Sounds like some good observe-and-correct type assessment going on....

TexArk, I wish you a quick and easy sale. Easier when you're out of the house. I remember trying to sell our last house when we had all three kids at home, the youngest five. Trying to keep things perfect was not very pleasant. I want to stay in two stories myself. Although I have to remind myself t...

I added a little dark chocolate after dinner as well. I think it helps me stop when I know I have that to finish off. My hardest time is around 4 pm when I start to get ready to eat but dinner isn't until 6 or 6:30. I do have a coffee with milk and sugar or a juice and seltzer, which helps. I agree ...

@ 3squaremeals, I have mixed results with oatmeal too. If I chop an apple into it and add some almonds it seems to last longer. @oolala, I wonder if the caloric restriction has something to do with restriction of animal protein/growth hormone. Although I could see it being related to not being overn...

Linda, this was so helpful for me. I did need to hear this. Weight loss is one thing, but feeling good mentally and physically matters more to me. I do feel really good on No S and planning meals, that bane of my existence, is way more fun. I did drop a couple of pounds, which I attribute to walking...

Sleep is a mystery now that I have arrived in midlife. I used to hit the sack tired, sleep soundly, and wake up refreshed. Not so much now, though when it does happen, I really enjoy it :) I do think less meat/dairy is probably a wise plan. Some people do vegan before five, but I find some protein h...

Felt low yesterday. Physically pretty droopy by five-- I had to eat lunch at 11 for work schedule reasons, did okay after school not snacking. I take my daughter to ballet at 4:30 which takes an hour so I didn't get dinner on the table till 6:30. And I felt definitely droopy. I need some kind of mod...

Hope you don't mind my chiming in with random thoughts on this thread:) LPearlmom, I always feel terrible when I lose my temper with my children. I have three, 2 grown, the youngest 15. Oolala53, I'm interested in your fasting mimicking protocol. Is there a website? I have been a bit worried about protein intake for a while-- I do use a little whey powder in the morning, about half a serving, because I like what it does for my hair and nails, but I'm not convinced it's the best cho...

Week 3 and have not lost any weight, alack. Enjoying meals more and liking how much easier it is to plan things, so that's all to the good. Rolled over instead of getting up to exercise this morning. I did do my fifteen minutes of intensity yesterday, five minutes of hiking down a steep ravine with ...

I bought a fancy lunchbox from Wegman's for only $5! So, yay! I think I'm doing all right habit wise. Sometimes I have to have a coffee with milk and cocoa mix at 4 to keep from chewing the furniture. And I am sad I have not lost any weight- maybe a pound? Maybe? But the other benefits feel worth it...

Good luck today! As an American I so enjoy reading about crumpets and tea :) I think you are sensible to want to maintain a stable weight even if it's higher than you like versus cycling up and down. I think my issue is I go through periods of accepting my weight, and then when I'm trying, I get fru...

Hey everybody-- The good news is, I'm green for the week except yesterday-- a thought-out (I like to think) decision yesterday to have a goodie that I associate with childhood. Just had a few bites. Larkspur's check-in
Really grooving on No-S. I'm about ten days in, and I feel like my body is learning not to expect food between meals. I still need a coffee with milk and sugar at 4, as I can't seem to quite make it from 1 pm lunch to 7 pm dinner. Otherwise I feel really good and my system seems to appreciate the re...

I lived in France for six weeks back when oxygen was forming (late '80s). As I recall, there was one baguette a day which fed the five of us-- so one or two small pieces with meals. We had homemade yogurt and bread for breakast. Lunch and dinner took at least an hour and were served in courses-- wis...

I just finished my first week, and this is the one I gave myself some room on-- it has been challenge enough to cut out snacking.
