I'm trying to get in a bit of cycling every night after work. I'm not doing huge rides, but at least I'm loosening up my creaky knees. We keep bees in our tiny urban backyard. Every week or so, we open up one of the hives, to check the bees' health. Do they have enough pollen, nectar and honey? Is the queen laying eggs? Have ants or other pests invaded the hive? If you click on my blog link below, there's a lot of information about...

Dietary supplements? Popping vitamins?
I found this very interesting: http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/spotquack.html I believe that as long as we eat a varied and moderate diet, there's no need to supplement. I do, apparently, have a big vitamin D deficiency, which I find odd. I'm interested in what hearing what else pe...

I think a lot of this depends on your relationship with food. If you load your plates to the sky or if you sabotage yourself by eating mountains of junk on the weekend, you're not going to see a lot of progress. If, however, you can find a way to eat moderate meals, and enjoy some special foods on t...

Tastes vary. We like a dark roast, which we grind at home. We strongly believe that our food choices should be ethical choices, so we spend a bit of extra money and buy organic, free trade coffee. Water Weight
As someone who has never owned a scale, and who drinks a *lot* of water, I'm baffled by the concept of "water weight."
I keep reading things like "I didn't gain weight, that's just water weight."
What does this mean? How does one *know* the source of weight gain?
Or is this just a form of denial?
