Finally Feel Like a Yearly Check in is Appropriate
This is not going to be major inspiration. No Rocky music. Last year was the first year I really stuck to No-S without a bunch of tweaking, going off it, trying to lose faster, then gaining the weight back when I was sick of whatever it was I was doing.
I'm... pretty heavy. I only lost 22 lbs this year.
For me, though, this has been less about the weight loss and considerably more about sane habits.
I don't binge.
I've learned to make great dessert shooters. (typical weekend dessert)
My relationship with food is better than it ever has been. I enjoy my meals. They're delicious and wonderful. I don't freak out when I socialize on weekends, worrying about what I can or can't have.
My family has good eating habits from my example.
Though my husband is griping. We'd gotten into the habit of walking on this gorgeous trail for an hour every night and it's been too dark to do it after work what with winter and all. He's counting days until a nice walk after work becomes a reasonable thing again.
Success? Yes. Something dramatic that you'd do a newspaper article about? Not at all.
Has my whole life and outlook and personality changed? Not at all. But I was happy BEFORE! I'm still an introvert, like long walks (always did) am addicted to reading and will never ever be a party animal. I just... sew clothes a little smaller now.
And I'm intensely curious what my weight may do next year. I know it won't go up, and that's cool. But I hope I will lose another 20 lbs.

I don't know... I think I'm hearing some rocky music.
22 pounds in a year is plenty -- and the fact that you've got a full year on habit after many previous years of experimentation is huge.
I am very impressed and happy for you, Noel! Thank you for letting us know and best wishes for 2013.
