Camping and No S

Post by ginmarie » Sat Jul 23, 2011 11:06 pm

Well, I wasn't sure how camping/vacation time should be handled being a No S'er, so I just winged it. I Spent a week tent camping with my dc. I decided ahead of time to treat it as an S week and though I knew I didn't want to go nuts, neither did I want to be overly restrictive. What I ended up doing was eating when I normally would, my 3 squares. I did almost no snacking except a couple of times after buying my annual package of fresh squeaky cheese :D mid week. When we had a dessert, I ate it. So, I had a pudding cup with some real whip cream, a cinnamon roll and at Starbucks one day I had a tea latte and one day I had an ice tea lemonade. We had koolaid to drink, and I had small glass each time. I did fine with no seconds, because I'm totally used to that now, and my capacity at meal time has shrunk. Of course we ate stuff that we only eat camping, box mac & cheese, Top Ramen, hot dogs, chips, marshmallows, kool aid, but I also bought a container of grape tomatoes for myself (yum) and a sweet pepper and I added some veggies to all my dinner and lunches, even threw some in my baggie omelet - yum! That too is becoming second nature. I think I did pretty well all things considered. Exercise was easy to come by camping with active teens as we hiked quite a bit and walked the beach a few times. I chopped wood and did all the heavy duty camping stuff, setting up, tearing down etc, that I usually do when I leave the Hubs at home and launch into the wilderness with the dc. LOL

I have to say though I love, love, love camping, I am looking forward to Monday and getting back to "normal".

Nicely done. Marshmallows are Required By Law when camping. I think you did quite well. Maybe not officially No-S, but you ate as well as you could, and didn't go crazy.

This is definitely a vacation. I think on vacations "sometimes" and "special" are the operative words. It sounds like that was the case for you. Well done!

:D LOL! I agree. My kids are weird though - they prefer to just eat the marshmallows "raw" or in cocoa and once in a while toasted, but they don't actually like smores. Too rich I guess.

Thanks - I was wishing there was an S word that covered vacations, maybe Soaking days as in soaking up the relaxation...? I guess Special will have to do. :)

Sounds like a Sane vacation, by No S standards and especially, American standards.
