***April 2014 Challenge***

Post by minimizer » Tue Apr 01, 2014 5:13 am

I've found the monthly challenges extremely helpful for staying on track. Two months and still No S-ing---the first time I've kept at it for any length of time. So I am starting an April challenge here.

Thank you Minimizer! I'm in too...

For my holiday N days, I'll aim for 3 meals a day and one or two desserts/sweets per day (yep, excessive but if you know about the Austrian cakes) and for Easter no rules apply.

I'm going to keep up with my RaisingReaders Challenge: 1 hour reading to kids Mondays and Wednesdays; 20 minutes Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Tuesdays and Saturdays are Reading Rest days due to busy evening schedules.
This is my 3rd or 4th month working on this; the first two months I had higher expectations on myself and they were filled with lots of fails; last month I had only two fails with my new, easier system.

Wed, 1st:  FAIL although I did read 30 minutes, just not the whole hour
Thur, 2nd: :)
Fri, 3rd:  FAIL Note: this week was spring break, which helps to explain my difficulty.
Sun, 6th; Sick Day
Mon, 7th: Sick Day
Wed, 9th: Took a 1/2 sick day, so I aimed for 30 minutes. I made it to 45, so that's a success! :)
Thur, 10th::) And wow, a great victory, I didn't think I would make it today.
Fri, 11th:  FAIL
Sun, 13th: :) I guess I'm surprised at my success! I've had so many fails this month that I shocked myself. Here's go to being back on track (after spring break and then being sick) for the rest of the April!
Mon, 14th: :)

I'm excited to try this. My goal is to make my Sunday S days a little tamer - so that Monday doesn't make me want to eat the kitchen sink.

1 N :D
2 N :? Hibachi. I did very good compared to pre-NoS. Only a few bites of salad and no soup. It was the rice that did me in though I had plenty left over for today (normally I would have eaten it all). I was...very full but not uncomfortably full.
3 N :o Gonna go ahead and mark this. Went to lunch with my co-workers instead of having my planned lunch. Mexican restaurant - the chips and salsa were fantastic. I ordered modestly but then I ate more than a plate full. Boo.
4 N Back on Track!

5 S Not bad at all. Actually, much more like an N day.
6 S Ate all the things! Gave myself tummy trouble.

7 N
8 N *bam* 8)
9 N done
10 N and done
11 N technically green (ate some candy at Midnight)

12 S
13 S

14 N Hardest N yet. I wanted all the things. Chewed gum instead.
15 N Easy Peasy.
16 N Mmm..chicken tenders for lunch. Ate till I was full and left the rest.
17 Weigh in Day down 6.6# N Of course. Mexican. Every time. :(
18 N Why do these things come in twos? :(

19 S
20 S Jelly beans near bedtime... :(

21 N Green, even with the jelly beans staring me in the face!
22 N Is it bad that it seems so engrained that I had to think to figure out if it was a green day or not? I suppose I should be more conscious of what I'm doing.
23 N Hard green. Fast food does not make a lasting dinner.
24 N Another hard day. Wanted to cope with life with cookies and jelly beans. But, did not.
25 N :)

26 S
27 S :( Not a single veggie the entire weekend. Must get better with my S days.

28 N Busy bees don't snack.
29 N :D

I'm in! I had about 50 percent successful N days last month, so my goal for this month is to do better.

1. Fail
2. Success!
3. Success! Not the best food choices (mainly at lunch time), BUT I still stayed within the rules.
4. Success!

10. Fail
11. Fail This has been a hard week. My older son is home on Spring Break, and he has autism, so between taking care of him and my 2 year old, it has been very difficult to eat proper meals. I've done a lot of snacking. :( I'll work on getting back on track, starting tomorrow.

14. Fail
15. Success!
16. Fail
17. Fail I've been allowing myself to be derailed by Easter candy, plus for some emotional reasons. This must stop tomorrow.
18. Fail I don't consider this day a success, but I didn't snack as much, and I didn't eat after dinner, which is why I'm calling this a minor fail.

I haven't been tracking here or anywhere, but I think I've complied 4 of 5 N days a week. Had a shoulder injury last Wednesdayl didn't feel it then but it hurt like hell by Friday. I thought it was going to really slow me down, but I was able to do the 7-minute circuit today. I think it was an overhead press that did it. Was since told by a freind that his physical therapist said that no one should ever do them! Isn't the first time a physical therapist said not to do routine bodybuilding exercises. I just want vigorous movements. I'll find an alternative.

I've been doing 4-, 7-, or 11-minute workouts most N days. Haven't been able to get myself to get a walk in. Still pleased with improvement.
