Happy new year, loyal board members!

Post by reinhard » Thu Jan 05, 2023 6:13 pm

My resolution this year is to get this bulletin board into better shape, so new members can join without the hassle of me personally having to approve them from a flood of spam join requests, and we can preserve and learn from the many historical posts that are still here.

It may involve some downtime, and I may need some help from guest moderators, and it may totally fail and end in catastrophe, but I think the time has finally come to give this a try.

Apologies in advance for any downtime! And thanks in advance for any offers of help!

Reinhard

Happy new year to you too.

Happy to help if I can. I don't mind clearing posts too if that helps you.

Great that you are looking at this. It would be good to have more new members.

We've already communicated on Facebook. I still consider this more useful, but not all agree. I love that we have topics, though people don't always use them well. I guess they are so used to just popping on FB and asking or commenting without even seeing if the idea has already been examined. But what are you gonna do? have both.

Update: I've been speaking with a friend who has current professional knowledge of how to do this sort of thing (he's in "devops") and a plan is emerging... more soon!

Hello Reinhard,
I am so glad, can't wait to see the new website; haven't been contributing lately, but lurking happily
(Hope to chime in more in the weeks to come)

I usually only hang out on the check-in page so I missed this. Sounds like exciting developments in the works!

Glad you think so! We had two coffees together about it already to plan. Next week we might start breaking stuff...
