Skipping Meals?

Post by Tuduku » Sat Jun 27, 2009 4:20 pm

Hello, everyone. I'm new to this; actually, I found the site from a link in a Healthy Lifestyles LJ community I'm in and spent the last hour or so reading about the No-S diet.

Well, even though it's Saturday, I'll definitely be starting this diet... theoretically, Monday.

I have a question! I'm a seventeen year old high school student who is sadly unemployed (Living about an hour south of Detroit, unfortunately all of my entry-level job opportunities are going to those who have just lost their auto industry career) and on summer vacation. It's not that I'm lazy, although I guess I am, but I tend to go to bed later and wake up between ten o'clock and noon.

I'm not a wake-up-and-eat person, so usually this means by the time I get hungry for the first time, it's about 1 PM and... lunchtime. So, I've gone and skipped breakfast!!

Is this okay, for me to just eat when I'm hungry? Should I consciously make an effort to get out of bed earlier to balance out my meal-schedule? Should I try to adjust my schedule for three meals, just at unconventional times, for balance purposes?

I'm sorry if there's been a question like this that has already been posted somewhere along the lines, but... I'm only human, so looking through 50+ pages for my answer just sounded ridiculous.

Thank you!

The important thing is to establish habitual mealtimes - whatever they are.

So, do NOT "eat when I'm hungry." Eat at regular mealtimes. Your body will LEARN to be hungry then. :) Re-training it is part of the process.

However, WHEN those regular meals fall is totally up to you. Adjust them to fit your waking schedule. If you're staying up that late, you probably will want something after the time most people would eat dinner, so maybe that's your third meal.

(There are a lot of people on the list who work night shift or some variant, who figured out the best routine for them.)

Best wishes!
