The Power of Doubt: Be Skeptical

Post by wosnes » Wed Mar 24, 2010 1:15 pm

As I've mentioned before I'm a big fan of The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. The whole book is a little too new-agey woo-woo for me, but I like the agreements.

His new book is The Fifth Agreement. I've not read the book yet, but here's the agreement:
Be skeptical, but learn to listen.

Don't believe yourself or anybody else. Use the power of doubt to question everything you hear: Is it really the truth? Listen to the intent behind the words, and you will understand the real message
Here's another quote from the book:
The truth doesn't need you to believe it; it simply is.
Here's an article that brings up some good points about how we see ourselves -- and whether or not what we see is the truth.
"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do. Not that the nature of the thing itself has changed but our power to do it is increased." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"You are what you eat -- so don't be Fast, Easy, Cheap or Fake."
