Unusually Hungry

Post by NoelFigart » Thu Apr 01, 2010 2:25 pm

Money's been a little tight the past few weeks (I'm self-employed and expect these ups and downs. It's just par for the course).

So, because of that, I've been putting off going to the grocery store for things I'd routinely replenish but aren't tagged in my mind as "absolute necessities". One of those things is half-n-half, which I like in my coffee.

I drink a couple of mugs of coffee a day, nothing too significant. While I like cream, I buy GOOD coffee, so am fine with drinking it black.

Well, the last couple of days, I've been getting hungry with a very strong adjective in front of it a good hour and a half before meals instead of the usual half hour. I was puzzling and reviewing it, wondering what in the world? I eat more or less the same breakfast every day (optimized oatmeal) and I've been eating the same size lunch I usually do. I have been exercising the same amount I usually do, so it seemed weird that I'd be so very very hungry.

Then it hit me. That little dollop of half-n-half was apparently making the difference. Makes sense, what with the fat content and all. It was funny, though, how MUCH three plates a day highlights what you're really doing. If I were not eschewing snacks, I'd probably be snacking more without noticing the change in detail.

Good observations! It's very interesting how we can get so used to things like half and half in our coffee.

Then again, I occasionally have days when I'm either much hungrier or less hungrier than usual and can't associate it to anything.

Same here. There will occasionally be days where I feel like I just can't eat enough to fill my stomach. They're pretty rare, but they happen. And there are other days where I'm just not very hungry.

Hearing that this happens once in a while makes me feel better. After 3 mo of No S I have all of a sudden been really hungry lately. A few nights ago I actually woke up in the middle of the night hungry!! That never happens to me! I've also started to get hungry at 3 pm, which went away after a week of No S and is now back. I've just been ignoring it. I don't think I've been eating any less than usual. I was starting to wonder if my body was rebelling against losing weight and trying to get me to eat more. I'll give it another week, maye it will go away...
This version of myself is not permanent, tomorrow I will be different. --BEP

Well, Mark Twain does. I stole that from him.

Actually the story is a GREAT No-S Story.
