Obesity Stigma

Post by BrightAngel » Sat May 08, 2010 4:12 pm

Posts in a few recent Threads discussed this issue.
I think before making any further comments about the obese,
or their personal responsibility for that condition,
everyone has a duty to at least guarantee
they are not simply making ignorant and uninformed negative judgmental comments.

Reading this Research Paper in its entirety could help accomplish that objective,
and help put the issue into perspective.

I finally finished reading this research paper today. I am glad you posted it - it should be archived somehow so we don't collectively forget what it says.

Thanks for posting it, regards, Graham

I tried to open it, and got a "page not found" link (though it seemed to be at the right site). Can you give us the title, so we can search for it on that site?

That's odd. I think that something must have changed at the Rudd site, because the link opened successfully on Saturday but does not work now.
Be kind, for everybody you meet is fighting a hard battle.

There are several articles on Obesity Stigma at the Yale University, Rudd center site
under the Hot Topic: "Weight Bias".

http://www.yaleruddcenter.org/hot_topics.aspx

There are many excellent articles listed as "Recent Publications" on that site dealing with this issue,
However, My recollection is that I linked to the article,
Obesity Stigma: Important Considerations for Public Heath.
by Rebecca Puhl, and Chelsea Heuer.
