Hi everyone! (new member, technically 10th day no-s)

Hi everyone, I thought I'd just quickly introduce myself while procrastinating doing other, important things!

I'm a just-turned-22 female student in the UK. I've been reading about no-s and shovelglove etc on-and-off for a couple of years now, but this is the first time I've really attempted any of the systems. I'm beginning with no-S. Reinhard's writing really appeals to my geeky side, the systems are amazing! I've also listened to quite a lot of the podcasts over the last few months, even though I haven't been doing any of the systems.

I'm not actually overweight, but I am over 'my' weight -- I have put on about 7lbs since I started University (I'm in my third/final year now), but to me it looks like more, I have belly that I never had before. I'm about 5'3" and weigh about 125lbs. I don't have a 'goal weight', but seeing the scale go down would make a nice start, and I have some jeans bought from the internet that don't fit -- I would love to be able to wear them!

I'm fairly inactive, and without structure I lean towards perma-snacking, but I feel better with planned meals. I'm vegan (for ethical, not dietary reasons).

I've technically done 9 (starting my 10th) days of no-s, but that feels a bit dishonest to say since in my first week I took 3 NWS-days! I thought about not taking them all, but in the interest of starting out easy, and knowing that these were absoloutely S-days I would have taken if they didn't all happen to be in the same week, I took them. So, I've only done 4 N-days (starting my 5th) so far! Oh well, that busy week is past and unless anything unusual happens, my next NWS-day should be February 11th. I'm definitely going to try and keep it to the 'canonical' 2-days-a-month from now on!

Thanks for letting me ramble on. What I really could do with is an Everyday System for making sure I do some work related to my degree rather than post on the internet.

Best of luck. Sounds like you're off to a good start. You don't have much to lose at all so it will likely go slower for you. Don't get discouraged!

Thanks! Yeah, I read that you lose weight less quickly if you're female/close-to-healthy-weight/older/smaller/less-active -- and of all of those, the only one I don't fit is 'older'. So I don't necessarily expect to lose any weight just following no-s, although I hope the habits will be beneficial to me in other ways. Until I get active again I expect to lose either nothing or very little. Getting active will be my next goal once my no-s habits are established :)

Taking habits in order is something I found very useful. My problems are/were:

1. Drinking slightly too much.
2. Snacking too much.
3. Not being physical enough.

I worked on the booze part first, because it seemed to me to be the most egregious problem. In fact, I got pretty stern with myself, saying that if I could not stick to Glass Ceiling for an entire month with no failures, I was going to check myself into rehab. That got my attention enough to fix the problem. No failures in close on to three years. I consider that problem nailed shut.

Food? I doubt my diet is in any way perfect, but I think it is good enough. I don't snack or eat sweets on N days. It's possible my plates should be a little smaller, but I am letting the "gentle pressure" take care of it. I did give myself time to get into the swing of things diet-wise before I started looking at exercise again. My biggest problem here is getting angry or disgusted and falling off the wagon after several months due to anger at social issues surrounding weight. (I need to stop shooting myself in the foot just because life is unfair).

Exercise? I'm using a similar technique that I would use for Glass Ceiling for making sure I exercise. If I don't get a half an hour of exercise every N day, I'll have to show up at an exercise class every day. I detest and despise them, so this is a major motivation for me. (The theory is the same, if I can't take care of this on my own, I have to get help. I PREFER to take care of things on my own so strongly that this is a major motivator).

My blog https://noelfigart.com/wordpress/ I talk about being a freelance writer, working out and cooking mostly. The language is not always drawing room fashion. Just sayin'.
