Yes, Glass Ceiling is a separate system from No-S.
However...
Alcohol is very calorically dense. I do enjoy my wine, but I'd probably lose faster if I didn't drink it at all. Since I'm more worried about lifelong habit than short term loss, I'm cool with that.

One of the things I like about No S and that makes it a real system for me is that drinking wine (or beer) is allowed. Other diets seem to exclude them - "empty calories! empty calories!" - so therefore do not really offer themselves as a long term solution to weight loss or maintenance - at least to me! I must have a "sustainable" solution (to use a popular buzzword).
And a nice dinner tastes better with wine!

Alcohol IS mostly empty calories. There's no doubt at all about that.
But so's ice cream. It's all about moderation.

Not sure where my initial post went?
Anyway what I said was that I figure that at least some of those famous Frenchwomen who don't get fat must drink wine. I mean it can't only be the Frenchmen! (50 million of whom must be right! - or at least can't be wrong )
I'd rather the empty calorie of a glass of good Bordeaux than an approved "Weight Watchers snack" any day!

No S doesn't say you can't have these things because it's about the long term. However, it can't defy the laws of chemistry. If you take in more calories than you use, you won't lose weight.
That being said, just eat your plate of food, drink the amount that doesn't make you feel too full, and see what happens. It's easier to adjust downward after a few weeks than to get used to small amounts to start. And you may not even have to be purposeful about it.

Yep it's not a nutrient, but it makes food taste better! Life IS more than nutrients after all. And my 100 year old grandma (who weighed about 100 pounds) had a shot of whiskey every night. Actually all my family enjoyed its alcohol - and none were alcoholics and they never got drunk. It was about pleasure and enjoying life a bit! As long as one is moderate -
